I’ve written about guided mediation and about prayer in these articles. Guided meditation is guided visualization by someone else. Prayer is talking to God. There is also Transcendental Meditation which is repeating a mantra over and over for a period of time like about 20 minutes. The mantra is given by a qualified TM teacher. All these practices are great and have many health benefits, and they all raise your vibration and brighten your radiance.
Simple meditation is the absence of thought and the presence of stillness. Setting aside a few minutes every day for meditation will also produce many great benefits that are physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual, including the expansion of your intuition. Same say that it is difficult to simply meditate because it is hard to remove all thoughts. They try hard to focus on not letting any thoughts creep in their minds and become more frustrated the harder they focus. Sadhguru said that if we find it difficult to meditate, think of yourself as a microorganism on a little dirt ball in the vast universe. Then everything else will appear to be very insignificant.
However, it should be effortless. If any thoughts appear, recognize them and let them go. Thoughts that generate anger and regret mean that we’re thinking about the past. Thoughts that give us anxiety and worry have us contemplating about the future. Mark Twain once said “I’ve suffered a great many catastrophes in my life. Most of them never happened.” We need to be in the present moment. When we’re in the present moment, it is easier be calm and find inner peace. The feeling of inner peace is what all of mankind strives to achieve. It feels so good that we want to come back to it again and again. And the more we do it, the easier it will be to have inner peace, and we can use that feeling to help ground us when difficult situations arise.
When we’re ready to meditate, it may help to listen to healing meditation music or by chanting “Om” for a few minutes. That will help us relax and get us to where we can let go of all that is going on, and just be. Then we can surrender totally to God and listen to what Spirit has to say to us as we meditate.
