I am told that I was a ‘mischievous child’… I don’t agree, and will firmly state that I have no recollection of this… (yes, I did hide in a tree and scare the old woman, but in my defense she started it first… she was triggering my traps before I could catch the squirrels. Well, how else was I ever going to learn to talk to them…!? they kept running away!)
Anyway, this is not the point I’m trying to make – grown ups are soooo serious – they think they’ve ‘fun’ but not really (they just want to get drunk so they can ‘relax a little’… or sit in front of the TV ‘trying to unwind’… what’s wrong with this picture…?). Easy – they are not having ‘Fun’, they’re trying to recuperate after a long day’s work… or (in some cases) trying to avoid dealing with a poor relationship… well, you know what they say about ‘Denial’…
Am I being too hard… you think…? Some of my friends are single Moms with small kids, and even though they truly believe that the kids are the best thing in their life… still, it’s hard! But, does Life have to be so difficult… and if so, Why…?
I think I know the answer – grown-ups are just that: “grown-ups”… they have forgotten the joys of spontaneous laughter(just because you feel like it)… or the smile that appears from a new discovery… or how pleasure energizes and revitalizes you. They have forgotten the value of theirInner Child.
You see, your Inner Child is that part of you that is joyous, that loves to play and investigate… that part of you which makes Life fun… and rewards you with more and more! Unfortunately, there seems to be a Law that the moment you reach ‘Adulthood'(and when is that actually??), we must now be ‘very, very serious… for Life is a SERIOUS matter!!!‘(read this in a very, very pompous manner… you won’t get the flavor right otherwise).
Well I ask you – “Who made up such nonsense?(do I hear ‘Puritans’?… oh, those spoil-sports!) Why must Life restrict our pleasures… why must it be so somber…? After all, we all know how to be responsible(and if the old woman had just left my traps alone she wouldn’t have gotten such a shock… it wasn’t her job to stick her nose where it didn’t belong! sheesh…!)
O.K., old woman aside – Know this well… your Inner Child is that loving, kind, gentle(and sometimes mischievous) part of you that simply loves Life, that laughs joyfully(just ’cause!), and that can make you the happiest person on Earth… wanna know why…? Because your Inner Child has tremendous powers of Manifestation… (and equally can make your Life miserable if you hurt it… Oh, there’s new Knowledge you didn’t know…?)
