The renowned philosopher Pythagoras is widely recognized as the greatest geometer, astronomer, mathematician, and musical instructor of antiquity. In addition to his well-known expertise in these fields, Pythagoras was also highly educated in metaphysical and occult knowledge that he acquired in his extensive travels throughout the ancient world. The earthly sojourn of Pythagoras begins around 586 BCE in Samos, the significance of his upcoming life having been foretold to his parents unexpectedly in a prophecy by the priestess- oracle of Delphi. Some esotericists believe Pythagoras was an earlier incarnation of the adept Koot Humi.

Pythagoras’ keen desire to attain spiritual wisdom led him to be accepted into, and initiated in, the Mysteries of India, Egypt, Chaldea, Greece, and Phoenicia. Pythagoras studied the Inner Wisdom for years with Brahmin instructors, even meeting and becoming a disciple of Lord Buddha for a time while in India. The awareness he gained from study in the Indian and other Mystery Schools is the source of the exceptional sagacity Pythagoras demonstrated. In addition to disciplines like geometry and music, Pythagoras had acquired arcane knowledge on many subjects including astrology, stones and minerals, magical powers, healing, and divination.

Pythagoras taught that the stars and planets were alive and in fact, the living vehicles or bodies of great conscious beings. Pythagoras was well- experienced in Judicial or Mundane astrology which he learned from the Chaldeans. Pythagorean astrological and astronomical tradition teaches of a heliocentric solar system, a spherical Earth, the obliquity of the ecliptic, and his discovery that the planet Venus was both the morning and evening star.

Pythagoreans believed in an infinite universe, and defined God as Universal Mind that is diffused through all things. Pythagoras embraced the spiritual doctrines of reincarnation but not transmigration, the ether and the five elements, Karmic Law, Emanation, positive magic and alchemy, and occult numerology among others. The Emanation of the sacred Triad, Tetrad, and Decade from the mystical number One taught by Pythagorean philosophy describes the process of manifestation from invisible spirit into mental matter, and finally, tangible physical form.

Pythagoras understood the occult and therapeutic properties of the many types of plants and stones that exist in nature and could remember his past lives as plants, fish, birds, and persons.  Pythagoreans practiced healing using special poultices made of different plant combinations. Color and music therapy were also important healing methods. Pythagoras used special musical harmonics to effectively treat various diseases.

Pythagoras is well known for being able to influence the weather and cause rain, storms, or sunshine. He was also a skilled mesmerist who could affect the behavior of wild animals. One time he called an eagle down from the sky to himself, subsequently stroking the eagle’s head and calmly talking to it. On other occasions, he convinced an aggressive she-bear not to eat human flesh, and a bull to stop eating beans in a field by whispering in its ear. Spiritual gifts demonstrated by Pythagoras include- Interpreting omens, traveling clairvoyance, healing, prophecy, dream interpretation, bi-location, and divination.

Among the divination methods practiced by Pythagoras were- by pattern interpretation of burning frankincense combined with smoke, by flights of birds and sounds in nature, and by various forms of water divination.

When you receive the attunement for Reiki healing, there are symbols that are given to you for healing, one of which is the distance symbol. Reiki is known for hands-on healing, but by using these symbols, a Reiki practitioner can send remote healing energy over time and space. The Reiki practitioner is not the one who heals someone, but through their attunement is a vessel, and directs divine healing energy from Spirit to another person. You can do this for one person at a time or you can send the energy to a group of people. This is done by making a list of the people that have requested energy and holding it in your hands as you do the symbols and send energy, or by looking at a list of the recipients with your palms facing the list so that you’re beaming the energy towards them.

In addition to Reiki there are many other techniques of distance healing. Whenever you pray for someone to get well, you are asking Spirit to send healing energy to that person. My mother would always say a rosary and light a candle to pray for someone, and it often worked to the point that people would ask her to do that for them so that they could get well. You can also just ask God to heal them. In one of my classes, I learned that when you ask for healing, or to send energy, at the end, say “This or something better, only for the highest good, truth, wisdom, and light, and as Spirit wills it be”. The same is true with manifestation. You can also chant mantras while sending energy. Mantras can be a sound, or a word, or a phrase. I learned in class that for difficult or hopeless odds, you can chant “Ram” to invoke Lord Rama to overcome the odds. “Om” (or Aum) is another classical chant for healing.

Many of the healing techniques that I have come across, also have distance healing available. Larry Craig who is the founder of the Emotion Freedom Technique (EFT), also known as Tapping, teaches that you can do surrogate tapping for someone from any distance. He also has come up with a more powerful and spiritual technique called “The Unseen Therapist” which is the name of a book that is available for free on his website. The book is based on recalling specific events that caused negative emotions like anger, sadness, or guilt, and then asking the unseen therapist who is the spiritual healer within, to release them. Thus, you can also ask the unseen therapist in that person to help them remotely. Dr Yuen has a method where you think of the person’s weakness briefly, and then focus on their midline to make them strong and then send the weakness to minus infinity. These are brief overviews of two power healing techniques that you can spend a great deal more time researching them.

On of the most interesting techniques that I’ve come across is “The Silva Mind Control Method”, because it uses meditation. You put yourself in a meditative state, and then visualize the other person with their ailment briefly on a mental TV screen. Then on another mental screen to the left, you visualize them getting treatment and recovering, and then on another mental screen to the left of that, you see them completely recovered and healthy and happy. Conversely, you cannot use this process for any ill will towards anyone, because it can only be used for the highest good. In this book, Jose Silva also uses a positive affirmation for self-healing that he got from Emile Coué, the French Pharmacist and Psychiatrist who was famous for the Placebo Effect, which is “Every day, in every way, I’m getting better and better and better”. You can say this once while in meditation, or twenty times twice a day when you’re in a conscious state of mind. By publishing this statement, he is helping people heal themselves, and so in a sense, you can also consider this to be remote healing. For all of these techniques, you gently disconnect or detach yourself afterwards. There have been many miracles using these techniques. The underlying theme to all of remote healing is love. It is the oneness that we share to help each other physically, mentally, emotionally, and to ascend on the spiritual path.

August 22 through September 21

The Sun enters the zodiac sign of Virgo on Monday, August 22nd. We are approaching the time of the harvest. The goddess Demeter is often pictured with a sheaf of wheat. Demeter represents the abundance of the earth’s grains and fruits that nourish and sustain us through the Winter months.

Virgo is a sign of service. It is necessary for the Virgo person to feel productive and useful. Helping to practically improve the quality and experience of everyday life is a natural Virgo talent.

The knowledge of health and healing are also skills that Virgos use to support the wellness and well-being of friends and family. We honor the desire of the Virgo individual to facilitate a healthy and sustainable experience of everyday life, work and reality.
