THE PLANT KINGDOM

Herbs and PlantsThe plant kingdom, known in some philosophies as the vegetable kingdom, is one of five kingdoms of nature. It includes all forms and types of plant life beginning with the least evolved plants. These five kingdoms are- mineral kingdom, plant kingdom, animal kingdom, human kingdom and the soul kingdom. Like all of nature’s kingdoms, the plant kingdom has its own particular note or tone, can be divided into seven groups based on the seven primary color rays, and is a manifestation of the One Life.

Not having evolved to the point of having an individual identity and consciousness, plants form part of a group-soul, or group consciousness. Plant consciousness demonstrates the beginning of feeling and dim sensations of well-being or discomfort in response to exterior stimulation. The wind and some insects benefit and aid the plant kingdom. Plants respond positively to love, praise, and harmonious music, and negatively to discordant emotions and sounds. Like animals and humans, plants are unfolding consciousness on physical, etheric, and astral levels, but unlike humans and animals, are incapable of thought.

PlantPerhaps not surprisingly, of the seven major color rays, the green ray of beauty and harmony, along with its sub-rays, is the ray most attuned to the plant kingdom. Some authors refer to the green ray, which is at the center of the color spectrum, as the fourth ray. The green devas inhabiting the etheric plane work with magnetization to assist and protect all types of plants and numerous sacred spots on earth. The plant kingdom transmits and transforms vital pranic energy, making it available to the forms of life on earth.

In the late 1800’s, the famous physical medium Mrs. Samuel Guppy was an instrument for apporting large quantities of living fruit, vegetables, nuts and flowers in hundreds of seances, many times upon request. These included- lemons, pears, onions, potatoes, dates, almonds, two kinds of grapes, filberts, bananas, walnuts, peaches, oranges, figs, apples, a six- foot sunflower with earth around the roots, twenty prickly cactus at one sitting, tulips, ferns, chrysanthemums, Chinese primroses, and stinging nettles.

The Sun CardThe vision of the prophet Enoch contains esoteric symbols in the form of mystical plants. Located on a mountain were Alva Trees that were full like almond trees and produced a perfumed fruit. The Tree of Heavenly Odor had an unceasing fragrance, and bark, leaves and flowers that never withered. It’s fruit resembled a palm cluster. A third kind of tree seen by Enoch produced sweet-smelling frankincense and myrrh. Olives and vines bearing fruit are also mentioned in the Book of Enoch.

Major Arcana plant kingdom symbolism can vary widely with different Tarot card decks. The Major Arcanas of both the Rider-Waite and the Universal Waite Tarot decks each hold fifteen cards with detailed and colorful plant symbols showing trees, flowers, fruit, grass, grain or laurel leaves. The Knapp-Hall Tarot deck Major Arcana has more cards with plant symbolism than these other two decks, but with fewer groups and less precise images.

Rider-Waite and Universal Waite Tarot deck plant symbols- red and white roses, white lily, pomegranate, green leaves, laurel wreath, wheat, coniferous and deciduous trees, shoreline plants, sunflowers, green grass, a tree with light- red fruit, a tree with fiery fruit, a bunch of grapes, yellow flowers with long green leaves, palm trees, wreath of vine leaves.

THE GOLDEN RATIO

One of the popular tools used in Sacred Geometry is the Golden Ratio. It is common because it is often found in classical paintings like “The Mona Lisa”, “The Last Supper”, “The Starry Sky”, and many others. This ratio is used for the art to be aesthetically pleasing. It is also used in photography for the same reason. The same can be said for architecture dating back to the pyramids, Stonehenge, and the Parthenon. It also has been used for churches, temples, and modern-day architecture. The Golden Ratio is derived from a sequence developed by Leonardo Fibonacci. It’s known as the Fibonacci sequence which is done by starting at zero and then continue adding the next number to it and continuing on. So, the sequence is:  0,1,1,2,3,5,8,13,21,34… and so on.

By using a grid, you start off with a square of one unit, then adding another square unit to form a rectangle. You then add a square to the one of the long sides to form another rectangle and then keep going as shown in the figure below.

Numbered Golden RatioAs you connect the quadrants in the square, you will see a spiral that is also known as the Fibonacci Spiral. The ratio of larger number to the smaller number in the sequence will converge to 1.618 with three decimal places after a few iterations. This is known as The Golden Ratio.

To illustrate:
Starting at 1 and 2 you get 2/1 = 2, 3/2 = 1.5, 5/3 = 1.666, 8/5 = 1.600, 13/8 = 1.625, 21/13 = 1.615, 34/21 = 1.619, 55/34 = 1.618,
89/55 = 1.618, and so on. Thus 1.618 is known as the golden ratio. It also can be approximated by the mathematical formula:
Φ = (1+√5)/2 = 1.618033988749….
The Greek letter Φ (phi) represents the golden ratio.

So, what does this have to do with spirituality and metaphysics? Well not only is the golden ratio found in man-made creations, but it is also abundant in nature and in the cosmos, with Divine mathematical precision. It is found in flowers, plants, leaves, branches, stems of plants, fractals, and in us, including our DNA. In one article that I read, a doctor found the golden ratio all throughout our bodies. It also said that a medical study showed that the closer of the ratio of the systolic (maximum) and the diastolic (minimum) blood pressure is to the golden ratio, the healthier our heart is. I checked mine which was 119 over 73 and got 1.630 which made me feel good. Again, this shows that holistic healing does not compete with western medicine, it compliments it. More and more this concept is being recognized. I was pleased to see on the website of South Denver Cardiology, that Feng Shui was used in constructing the building. This was done to facilitate the flow of chi and to help with healing.

Sri YantraThe Golden Ratio is also found in sacred symbols like the flower of life and the Sri Yantra. The Sri Yantra is a very powerful symbol that can be used to manifest positive energy and manifestation. You do this by meditating and focusing on the middle of the Yantra. Not only will you receive the benefits of meditation, but it will also you help you on your spiritual path. I found a bright colorful Sri Yantra on Wikipedia that will mesmerize you and stimulate your pineal gland which is your third eye. The pineal gland also has the golden ratio in it. At first, try it for a few minutes. You can gradually increase it as you become more comfortable looking at it. You can also chant mantras which will help as you meditate. If you don’t know any mantras, chant OM (AUM). Notice if the objects just inside the outer rings seem like they’re moving or if your third eye begins to tingle. Also notice if things start to go your way after doing it for a few days.

Binaural music sends difference frequencies to each ear with headphones on. I found a really cool video which has binaural beats where the difference is the golden ratio of 1.618 HZ. This will help create delta brainwaves in your brain. I felt empowered after listening to it.

It’s amazing to me that the imprint of Spirit is in mathematics and in these sacred symbols, and are given to us by Spirit to achieve a more glorious life. Enjoy both the symbol and the music.

We begin the month of May with Beltane on May 1st and the Moon in the zodiac sign of Cancer. Fertility rituals will be observed on a world-wide basis. The Moon in the water sign of Cancer not only nourishes the Earth and its burgeoning vegetation but also the seeds that are planted by couples who desire to bring new life into the world.

The First Quarter Phase Moon occurs in Leo on Sunday, May 4th. The theme for the Leo Moon is fun, play and creative self-expression. Spending quality time with family and loved ones will be our natural desire. Pluto is going retrograde in the sign of Aquarius also on this day so unexpected events may require a last-minute change of plans. Flexibility and loving detachment are recommended.

Full Moon in ScorpioWork, business and health concerns are likely to take precedence as the Moon goes into Virgo on Monday, May 5th.

Practical concerns will give way to connection and communication in relationships as the Moon enters Libra on Thursday, May 8th and continues in Libra through Friday, May 9th.

Mercury enters Taurus and the Moon enters Scorpio on Saturday, May 10th. An awareness of what we desire (Scorpio) and how much it will cost us (Taurus) can easily occur at this time.

Sunday, May 11th is Mother’s Day. This event occurs right before the Full Moon in Scorpio on Monday, May 12th. Those of us who have lost their mothers or experienced major emotional loss may need some time to mourn or grieve while the Moon is in Scorpio.

A lighter and more upbeat emotional experience occurs as the Moon enters Sagittarius on Tuesday, May 13th.

New Moon in GeminiA Last Quarter Phase Moon occurs in Aquarius on Tuesday, May 20th. This is the same day that the Sun enters Gemini. Our emotional need will be to break free of habit patterns that hold us back from being available to engage authentically in healthy relationships with others. The theme while the Sun is in Gemini is connection, communication and co-creation. Being fully present requires a commitment to honesty and authenticity.

Saturn enters Aries on Saturday, May 24th. Ownership and responsibility to assert our true self is now at hand.

Mercury enters Gemini on Sunday, May 25th. We are encouraged to learn how to successfully articulate our truth to others. Speaking truth to power comes to mind. This new beginning in how we speak and share our truth with others is further emphasized as the New Moon occurs in Gemini on Monday, May 26th.

The Sun enters the zodiac sign of Taurus on Saturday, April 19th. Taurus is an earth sign ruled by the planet Venus. Venus is the planet of beauty and attraction. During this Springtime period the Earth is beginning to display her beauty.

Easter Sunday occurs on April 20th while the Sun is transiting the sign of Taurus. Currently the planet Pluto in Aquarius is forming a challenging aspect to the Sun in Taurus. I mention this because on Easter Sunday the Moon will be in Aquarius and Mars will be in Leo opposite Pluto in Aquarius and square the Sun in Taurus.

The traditional theme for Easter is death and resurrection. Pluto is the planet that symbolizes transformation. The desire for Taurus is financial security. It would seem that this is a time when our financial security is being challenged by circumstances beyond our control.

Earth Day occurs on Tuesday, April 22nd. We benefit by seeking to celebrate and nurture the beauty and value of our physical environment at this time.

Practical actions to enhance our personal value and financial security are favored while the Sun continues its transit of the zodiac sign of Taurus.
