HUMANS ARE SOUL-PERSONALITIES
by Bruce Johnson

Recognizing the fact that human beings are dual in nature is fundamental to the understanding of one’s true self. These two aspects are known as the soul or individuality, and the mortal self, esoterically referred to as the personality. The researcher will discover that different authors use the words soul and spirit to represent various spiritual levels of consciousness. This writer supports the teaching that the soul or individuality is the highest aspect of an separate human being, with the spirit corresponding to a vehicle or instrument of the soul.

Each human soul, in its triple nature, lives immortally on its own plane while developing and evolving over the ages. Individuality nature is- humanity and group focused, completely aligned with good, spiritually oriented, intelligently loving, selfless, intuitively and higher mind based, and permanently linked to one of the seven primary color rays. To unfold its full divinity through experience on the lower planes of life, every soul cyclically sends forth a small portion of itself to physically incarnate. This incarnated fragment of the individuality is the lower self, or personality. Our souls remember every aspect of their many human lifetimes.

Personality qualities include- self-centeredness, moral duality, a materialistic world focus, selfish desire, limitation, accenting the lower mind and personality ray, and living a transitory physical existence followed inevitability by death. During incarnation, the personality is often unaware that it is only a portion of the individuality, and not a separate entity unto itself. The spiritual goal is to develop a soul-infused personality through its merging with the individuality. To understand and become our immortal selves, we need to discard old limiting and inaccurate identification habits. We often identify our “self” with either our physical body or our lower human self. Accurate self- identification requires identification with the soul individuality.

The harmonious relationship between the individuality and the personality is of vital importance. There is a very real flow of energy between the soul and personality at all times. The strength of this connection and the stream of power through it varies greatly corresponding to spiritual development, and the aids or obstacles to the soul in being able to influence its personality. Right use of the mind, selflessness, assisting human progress and evolution, combined with aligning our human goals with our soul’s purposes, all fortify the connection between our higher and lower selves. The Strength Tarot card depicts the solar angel, or individuality, spiritually dominating and directing the lower animal self, symbolized by the lion.

The sutratma, sometimes called the “silver cord”, that is attached to the soul and anchored in the heart, brings life-energy and coherence to every part of the physical body via the bloodstream. The difference between sleep and death is that while astral projecting during sleep, the spirit is always linked to the body via the sutratma so that a current of life continually flows into the physical body. At death the sutratma is permanently severed, making it impossible for the person to return to their physical vehicle. Without this principle of unifying life streaming into and through it, the physical body quickly disintegrates.

The violet ray is the color ray par excellence for unifying the individuality and personality. Its qualities include the ability to synthesize the part with the whole, and to integrate and fuse opposite polarities.

GIANTS WHO WALK AMONG US
by Bob Romero

WonderI find it amazing how the subjects for my articles come to me. Sometimes it’s synchronicity that happens, or it’s an idea that just comes into my mind. And sometimes my guides just land it in my lap. Before I wrote this article, I noticed that a woman was making a recurring donation to the fund raiser that I had set up for the food bank. At first, I didn’t recognize her name because I knew her by her nickname and not her formal name. I wanted to thank this woman personally, and so I googled her formal name and found another generous woman with a big generous heart by the same name, but who lived in California. This woman posted a story on social media that was so touching that I had to share it with everyone:

I arrived at the address and honked the horn. After waiting a few minutes I honked again. Since this was going to be my last ride of my shift I thought about just driving away, but instead I put the car in park and walked up to the door and knocked. ‘Just a minute’, answered a frail, elderly voice. I could hear something being dragged across the floor.
After a long pause, the door opened. A small woman in her 90’s stood before me. She was wearing a print dress and a pillbox hat with a veil pinned on it, like somebody out of a 1940’s movie.
By her side was a small nylon suitcase. The apartment looked as if no one had lived in it for years. All the furniture was covered with sheets.
There were no clocks on the walls, no knickknacks or utensils on the counters. In the corner was a cardboard box filled with photos and glassware.
‘Would you carry my bag out to the car?’ she said. I took the suitcase to the cab, then returned to assist the woman.
She took my arm, and we walked slowly toward the curb.
She kept thanking me for my kindness. ‘It’s nothing’, I told her. ‘I just try to treat my passengers the way I would want my mother to be treated.’
‘Oh, you’re such a good boy,’ she said. When we got in the cab, she gave me an address and then asked, ‘Could you drive
through downtown?’
‘It’s not the shortest way,’ I answered quickly.
‘Oh, I don’t mind,’ she said. ‘I’m in no hurry. I’m on my way to a hospice.’
I looked in the rear-view mirror. Her eyes were glistening. ‘I don’t have any family left,’ she continued in a soft voice. ‘The doctor says I don’t have very long.’ I quietly reached over and shut off the meter.
‘What route would you like me to take?’ I asked.
For the next two hours, we drove through the city. She showed me the building where she had once worked as an elevator operator.
We drove through the neighborhood where she and her husband had lived when they were newlyweds. She had me pull up in front of a furniture warehouse that had once been a ballroom where she had gone dancing as a girl.
Sometimes she’d ask me to slow in front of a particular building or corner and would sit staring into the darkness, saying nothing.
As the first hint of sun was creasing the horizon, she suddenly said, ‘I’m tired. Let’s go now’.
We drove in silence to the address she had given me. It was a low building, like a small convalescent home, with a driveway that passed under a portico.
Two orderlies came out to the cab as soon as we pulled up. They were solicitous and intent, watching her every move.
They must have been expecting her.
I opened the trunk and took the small suitcase to the door. The woman was already seated in a wheelchair.
‘How much do I owe you?’ She asked, reaching into her purse.
‘Nothing,’ I said.
‘You have to make a living,’ she answered.
‘There are other passengers,’ I responded.
Almost without thinking, I bent and gave her a hug. She held onto me tightly.
‘You gave an old woman a little moment of joy,’ she said. ‘Thank you.’
I squeezed her hand, and then walked into the dim morning light. Behind me, a door shut. It was the sound of the closing of a life.
I didn’t pick up any more passengers that shift. I drove aimlessly lost in thought. For the rest of that day, I could hardly talk. What if that woman had gotten an angry driver, or one who was impatient to end his shift? What if I had refused to take the run, or had honked once, then driven away?
On a quick review, I don’t think that I have done anything more important in my life.
We’re conditioned to think that our lives revolve around great moments.
But great moments often catch us unaware-beautifully wrapped in what others may consider a small one.
PEOPLE MAY NOT REMEMBER EXACTLY WHAT YOU DID, OR WHAT YOU SAID ~BUT~ THEY WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER HOW YOU MADE THEM FEEL.
At the bottom of this great story was a request to forward this – I deleted that request because if you have read to this point, you won’t have to be asked to pass it along you just will…
Life may not be the party we hoped for, but while we are here we might as well dance……….

Hugging NanaThis story made me think of my sister and my nephew who volunteer for hospice and give comfort to those before they transition. It made me think of my son who works not only with athletes as a personal trainer, but with older people dealing with pain and arthritis. In one of my previous articles, I wrote about one of his first clients who was an older woman and was in a car accident in the 1970’s and was confined to a wheelchair. He worked with her in a pool and she very slowly improved. At his wedding reception, she wheeled her chair to the middle of the dance floor, stood up and danced with him in place. She has since passed, but a smile comes to his face when he talks about her. It made me think of my daughter-in-law who works with students with special needs. She had one student who was so disabled that he could only use his eyes with a special computer. But he was still learning until he passed on. It also made me think of the people who worked in the rehab center where my mom was, and how they treated her so kindly until she passed away at the age of 99.

This story also made me think of all of the many good-hearted people who give aid and comfort to those who need help. I’m sure that you are aware of these people with big hearts in your life. So, when you encounter the negative energy of the little people (and I’m not talking about physical size), who are mean, rude, arrogant, feel entitled, or ridicule other people, just smile at them and think of the positive energy of the giants who walk among us, and be grateful for them.

OCTOBER 2023 ASTROLOGY UPDATE
by Roy Neal

Old Historic Astrologer

We begin the month of October with the Moon conjunction Jupiter in Taurus. This aspect suggests that we are emotionally exploring new ways of manifesting financial security. Both the Sun and Mars are in Libra so we benefit by actively engaging with others for mutual benefit.

Venus in Leo trine the North Node in Aries indicates that we may be able to persuade others to support projects that can be personally and professionally beneficial.

Reconnecting with friends and previous associates can provide support for new and existing projects. The art of negotiation and creative compromise is likely to be more successful as Mercury enters Libra on Wednesday, October 4th.

A Last Quarter Phase Moon occurs in Cancer on Friday, October 6th. Issues of family, home and security are likely to be our focus at this time,

Venus completely exits the retrograde shadow and enters the sign of Virgo on Sunday, October 8th. Improvement in the areas of our work, health and service are likely to occur frequently while Venus is transiting the sign of Virgo.

Pluto returns to direct motion on Tuesday, October 10th. It is now likely that governmental and business concerns will have gone through their symbolic process of death and rebirth so that we can begin to move forward with new policies and projects as Mars enters Scorpio on Wednesday, October 11th.

New MoonA New Moon/Solar Eclipse in Libra occurs on Saturday, October 14th. This activation suggests the importance of negotiations with others for mutual benefit for the next six months. Relationships and partnerships will benefit from new and more enlightened dialogue and discussion.

A First Quarter Phase Moon occurs in Capricorn on Saturday, October 21st. Work related goals and environments are in a major transformation process at this time. The intensity of this transformation will be enhanced as Mercury enters Scorpio on Sunday, October 22nd. Letting go of things, people and situations that we can no longer manage or control will occur more often as the Sun enters the sign of Scorpio on Monday, October 23rd. Empowerment through letting go will be the theme while the Sun and Mercury are transiting the sign of Scorpio.

Mars will continue to transit the sign of Scorpio for the entire month of October and most of the month of November. The wisdom at this time will be the wise use of power. Issues involving death and dying, gun control and suicide will demand our attention. The need for healing our psychological and emotional wounds will require personal responsibility and social action.

Full Moon in TaurusA Full Moon/Lunar Eclipse in the sign of Taurus occurs on Saturday, October 28th. An awareness of the need to resolve personal and collective economic issues will require us to manage our finances differently and let go of old attachments to things and people that no longer are of value. Cultivating a consciousness of what is essential and has the most value will be a theme for the next six months. The philosophy of “Less is More” may become personally and professionally useful.

All Hallows Eve or the Day of the Dead which occurs on October 31st will be a time of release and renewal. Letting go of old beliefs and attitudes will prepare us for a more conscious journey of life, love and empowerment.

LIBRA, THE SCALES in 2023
by Roy Neal

LibraSeptember 23 to October 23

The Sun enters the zodiac sign of Libra on Saturday, September 23rd. This event is known as the beginning of the Fall season and is known as the Autumn Equinox. Libra is a sign of balance. The equinox is a time of equal day and equal night. The Libra person desires to understand both sides of a situation or issue. They may appear indecisive until they have carefully examined all of the facts. Their goal in any conflict or debate is a fair and equitable outcome. For this reason they may be a valuable ally in the process of diplomacy and conflict resolution.

Libra is a sign of relationship. Team efforts, joint ventures, business and personal partnerships offer the Libra person ample opportunity for personal growth and soul development.

Libra is a dual sign. There is a light and a dark side to the Libra personality. Finding a way to be at peace with the opposite sides of their own nature is the key to cultivating inner peace and healthy relationships.
