Prehistoric Easter Island
by Bruce Johnson
The ancient records show that Easter Island, as well as Madagascar and Australia, are remnants of the sunken continent Lemuria that existed many millions of years ago. The secret Book of Dzyan records the history of the early human races, including the rising and submerging of the continents they lived on. Occultism holds that in humanities’ evolution, it passes through seven root-races, each containing seven sub-races. The last of the third race Lemurians and the first of the fourth race Atlanteans are the builders of the statues and cyclopean masonry found on Easter Island. These blended third and fourth race groups lived together on Lemuria as Atlantis formed, and were called the Lemuro-Atlanteans.
Stanza 10 of the Book of Dzyan states that the Lemuro-Atlanteans became very prideful and built temples for male and female bodies which they worshipped. Section 43 of Stanza 11 includes mentions of the Lemuro-Atlanteans creating cities, spreading civilization, and fashioning statues. These statues were cut from the light-colored stone of the mountains and dark- colored stone of subterranean fires, and made in their own images, sculpted into the size and likeness of the Lemuro-Atlanteans who worshipped them. Section 44 of Stanza 11 recounts the Lemuro-Atlanteans building great images 9 yatis high [27 feet], which was the size of their bodies. 25 to 30 feet was an average height for Lemuro-Atlanteans. Many Easter Island moai are around 27 feet high and 8 feet wide.
The ruins of Easter Island, or Rapa-nui, include large statues called moai ranging from 12 to about 32 feet tall, and burial platforms called ahus, some with vaults, which show different degrees of finish work. Those ahus containing a moai image are called image ahus. The stone remains show varying resemblance to their original condition, having been altered or damaged by nature and/or the island’s residents over the ages. The moai and image ahu of Easter Island are the work of the prehistoric Lemuro-Atlanteans, not the much later-arriving Polynesians.
The great majority of Easter Island moai are carved from a compressed volcanic ash composite from the island that is reddish-brown in color and is quarried from the volcanic cone called Rano Raraku. Many images are found inside and outside the crater of Rano Raraku. The largest moai ever raised onto a platform was 32 feet high, weighed 80 tons, and was known as “Paro”. Some statues, especially images placed on ahus, had cylindrical hats or crowns made from a red volcanic tuff quarried at Punapau. The finished hats varied from nearly 4 feet to 6 feet high, and from 5.5 feet to 8 feet wide.
Some of the Rapa-nui statues were discovered engraved with designs including raised bands and rings, as well as mysterious carvings. The smaller Easter Island statue in the British museum has intricate symbols covering its back and head, including the birdman. Examining the moai reveals that they were made with two types of backs. One type was convex, thick and unfinished, the other type was more body-accurate, sometimes having inscribed patterns and pictures.
Continents are destroyed at the end of their cycle by either fire or water. Lemuria succumbed to volcanic fires, while Atlantis ended in a great flood. After the final destruction of Atlantis, Easter Island was occupied for a time by some of the giant Atlanteans who had survived the submerging of their now underwater continent.

Religion
by Bob Romero
As we go on the spiritual path, we need to address the elephant in the room. No, I’m not talking about Ganesh, the Hindu deity, I’m talking about organized religion. I often hear condemnations of organized religions with the hypocrisies and injustices associated with them. While these criticisms are justified, I also look at the some of the worthy upshots that come from religion, like helping the poor, healing the sick, and taking care of the elderly. So there seems to be some merit to being part of a religion.
My yoga instructor says that while yoga may not be religious, it could be spiritual. So, what’s the difference between spirituality and religion, if both have a relationship with God? A religion is a group of people that follow the beliefs of a historical figure. The leaders of each group establish a set of doctrines and dogmas, by which the followers abide by. Spirituality is more personal and deals with direct communication between an individual and Spirit. So, it’s possible to be spiritual and religious, or to be spiritual and not religious.
However, when spirituality is forgotten in a religion, then that’s where problems arise with that religion. When you look at the core values of each faith based on spirituality, they are the same, in which some of the principles are serving others and being kind to one another. They produce the positive results that I mention above. Just concentrating on the dogmas and the doctrines without always adhering to the core values of spirituality will lead to problems. Fear should not be a driving force. Leaders should be servants to their followers and not be power-seeking individuals or predators. We should be in total control of our own faith and not hand it over to others. If we’re just blind followers, then we might as well be part of a cult. The difference between a cult and a religion, is that in a religion, we can question the teachings of that religion. There should be a celebration of joy and hope, and not have fire and brimstone preached to us.
The other problem with organized religion is when the leaders and their followers focus on their differences with other religions, instead of the things that are in common with them. Trying to convince others that their religion is wrong and that ours is right, tends to divide us and leads to conflicts, instead of the peace that is taught as a core value of all religions. People of other faiths are not our enemies; they are our brothers and sisters as they are also children of Spirit. Faith rooted in spirituality will help us on the path to enlightenment.

In Honor of Aquarius
by Roy Neal
December 21 – January 21
The Sun enters the sign of Aquarius on Tuesday, January 19th at 1:40pm MST.
Aquarius is an air sign ruled by the planet Uranus. Uranus is often referred to as “The Awakener.” On the day of the Winter Solstice last year Saturn and Jupiter formed a conjunction in the sign of Aquarius. This event was the celestial signal for a major social awakening for all people on planet Earth.
2021 adds to a 5. 5 is the number of freedom and change. Currently Mars and Uranus are forming a conjunction in the sign of Taurus. Taurus symbolizes money and value. There is a revolution currently happening on a world-wide basis in our experience of what is of most value. The “awakening” of a new consciousness is impacting all people personally and collectively. The call to independence and freedom is growing stronger every day.
Aquarius is a sign of independence and individuality. It is important for each person to own and express their unique talents. Convention and conformity are no longer a safe refuge for those who would contribute to the cause of a better and brighter future.

February 2021 Astrology Update
by Roy Neal
We begin the month of February with the Sun, Venus and Mercury in the zodiac sign of Aquarius. Mercury is currently retrograde in the Libra decan. Libra is a sign of relationship. During the Mercury retrograde period we will need to renegotiate our agreements with other people. Clarity is at a premium. Major life decisions should be postponed until Mercury has completely cleared the retrograde shadow on March 13. Mars continues its transit in the sign of Taurus for the entire month. Taurus is an earth sign. This fact suggests that our motivations and desires are of a practical and profit oriented nature.
A Last Quarter Phase Moon occurs in Scorpio on Thursday, February 4th. The emotional desire for control is likely to be challenged by the desire for independence and autonomy. The tension between Aquarius and Taurus is amplified as we approach the New Moon in Aquarius on Thursday, February 11th. A certain degree of willfulness and stubborness is in evidence as we begin the Chinese New Year of the Ox on Friday, February 12. A celebration of friendship and loving detachment is recommended as we approach Valentine’s Day on February 14. A square aspect between Saturn in Aquarius and Uranus in Taurus indicates creative problem solving opportunities in the areas of technology and business. Unexpected occurrences may produce delays and additional expenses in the areas of business and finance.
The Sun enters Pisces on Thursday, February 18th. A First Quarter Phase Moon in Gemini on Friday, February 19th encourages us to communicate our feelings and emotional issues to others. Mercury will be returning to direct motion in the sign of Aquarius on Saturday, February 20th. Objectivity and clarity in our communication and decisions begin to occur. If, however, we still are not completely sure of our facts and information it may be wise to put off major life decisions until Mercury has fully left the shadow of the retrograde period on March 13. A wise man once said: “If you do not know what to do, don”t do anything.”
Venus enters the sign of Pisces on Thursday, February 25th.
Relationships with a charitable and spiritual purpose are favored. Meditation, music, hot springs or a hot bath will serve to relax and nourish our body and soul.
A Full Moon in Virgo on Saturday, February 27th reminds us to focus on our health, work and service. Good nutrition, exercise and plenty of sleep will help us stay healthy and perform the greatest amount of service to others as well as ourselves.
