ARCANE FISH MEN FROM PAST AGES
by Bruce Johnson
The history of the legendary fish-man or merman can be traced back to the Atlantean continent before it sank beneath the ocean. Scientists from the later races of Atlantis experimented extensively with creating human/animal hybrids. A blending of human and animal forms was achieved through the manipulation of certain creative forces in nature unknown to modern science. Both land creatures and sea creatures were combined with human forms. The mythical centaur, satyr, faun, merman, triton, mermaid, Nereid, siren, and other human/animal combinations all physically existed at one time long ago.
In addition to the historical and mythological significance shared with other human/animal hybrids, the fish-men in ancient cultures had an allegorical, esoteric meaning as well. Mythologies around the world speak of a fish-man that emerges from the sea as a Divine instructor and Messiah. The Divine fish-man is always amphibious, and able to live on land or in water. The dual nature of the fish- man symbolizes his ability to function on both spiritual and physical planes. Ancient fish-men taught both spiritual and temporal knowledge to the populace of the countries in which they appeared. Fish- men are also known as Dagons, and to esotericists, adepts and water dragons.
According to Hinduism, Vishnu, the second person of the Hindu trinity, first incarnated as Matsya Avatara, or the Fish Avatar. In this incarnation he is depicted in the form of a being with a human head and the body of a fish. Vishnu, as the Indian savior of humanity, instructed the people of India in many matters including Vedic Law, agriculture, science and geometry. He is often pictured in the water rescuing four children from a flood. The white, brown, yellow and black children represent child humanity being saved from destruction. After the deluge, the children begin a new human race. After spending the daytime instructing, Matsya Avatara would at sunset return to the water, where he spent the night. One day he plunged into the water and never returned.
The Babylonian fish-man Oannes or Oan appeared out of the Erythrean Sea on multiple occasions to instruct the lawless tribes that lived in that country. Oannes taught the Babylonians about letters, sciences, agriculture, philosophy, law, and architecture and ordered societies. Like Vishnu, Oannes educated the people by day, but retired to the sea every evening. Musarus Oannes was the first Babylonian fish-man or Dagon, and was followed by five subsequent Dagons whose teachings and physical forms were identical to those of Musarus Oannes. Among the fish-men of the America’s, we have Quetzalcoatl, the Initiate-king who rose from the waters to teach agriculture, magic, art and the ancient Wisdom-Religion to the Mayans. As he emerged from the waters, he held the Crux Ansata, the Cross of Life. When his work with the Mayans was done, Quetzalcoatl disappeared out to sea on a magical raft of serpents. The Quiche Mayan Book of Creation Popul Vuh uses the term Vinac-car to describe fish-men. It chronicles the lives of the hero twins reborn as boys, Xbalanque and Hunahpu, both of whom were fish-men. Xbalanque and Hunahpu liberated their people and instructed them in good magic, battled evil giants, and performed many miracles. North American Indian fish-men legends tell of holy men dressed in colorful bird feathers and wampum that arose out of the water teaching the people of spirit, nature crafts and art.

ABBA
by Bob Romero
I recently had a dream that I was a little boy, and my dad was a young man. I remembered how he used to watch me while my mom went grocery shopping. I thought about how happy he was to have a little boy. Maybe I dreamed this because of my own experience of having a son and then two beautiful grandchildren.
But I also thought about what a generous and kind man that my father was. I described how he would go way out his way to help people in one of the first articles that I wrote. Now I see these same virtues in my son. As a personal trainer, he helps clients of all abilities achieve their physical goals, from athletes training for endurance events, to older people trying to stay fit, and overcome physical disabilities. With the COVID pandemic, he uses Facetime to make sure that they get their workouts in. I was able to observe the patience and encouragement he gives to each client. One of his first clients was an older woman who was in a car accident in the 1970’s and was confined to a wheelchair. He worked with her in a pool and she very slowly improved. At his wedding reception, she wheeled her chair to the middle of the dance floor, stood up and danced with him in place. There were hardly any dry eyes in the room. She has since passed, but her memory is an inspiration to all of us.
His most precious gifts to me and my wife are a beautiful, kind, and loving daughter-in-law, and two beautiful grandchildren. After seeing the wise parenting and example setting that he and his wife do with them, we feel so lucky and grateful that we are blessed to be part of their family. When our granddaughter began talking, she couldn’t say “Grandpa Bob”, and so she abbreviated it to “G-Bob”. When she calls me by that name, it’s the most precious sound that I’ve ever heard, and I do whatever she wants. After our grandson was born, his first word was “Bob” and he eventually said “G-Bob”.
It was a great honor to be his godfather for his baptism. Because of COVID, he wasn’t baptized until he was almost 16 months old. It was hard to keep him still during the Mass, and he high fived one of the priests before he was baptized. He giggled out loud when the water was poured on his head which caused the whole congregation to break out with laughter.
Then something mystical happened! Since then, he has called me, “Abba”. I didn’t know what to make of it. I knew that it didn’t have to do anything with the rock band from the 1970’s. So, I did some research and found out that “Abba” means “Father” in Hebrew, and it’s the word that Jesus used when referring to God. I thought how could this little one somehow know that I am his godfather. Then I remembered what the astrologer said when she read his chart. She said that the chart was a very unusual chart and that all the planets were on the left side. She drew the “Emperor” tarot card for him which denotes patriarchal callings. She said that this is a child who is very intuitive, psychic, spiritual, and don’t be surprised if he talks to animals and trees. She also said to believe him if he does. I haven’t seen him do that, but he did go up to the statue of St. Francis in our backyard, who is his size, and gave him a hug. Then he went to the sitting buddha and patted him on the head. The last time he was there, he bent over and kissed the buddha. Perhaps it’s a message from Spirit that I should imitate my father and my son, and serve others. This not only raises our vibration but helps us on our spiritual path. And being called “Abba” gives me a feeling that the best is yet to come.

DECEMBER 2021 ASTROLOGY UPDATE
by Roy Neal
Shortly after the Moon enters Scorpio on Wednesday, December 1st, the planet Neptune will return to direct motion. It takes a longer time for an outer planet like Neptune to completely adjust to its new direction. As a result it is possible that we will be in a transitional limbo of healing and release until the New Moon/Solar Eclipse in Sagittarius which occurs early on Saturday, December 4th. New beginnings in our experience of travel, education and cultural awareness are likely to evolve in the next six months.
A First Quarter Phase Moon occurs in Pisces on Friday, December 10th. Because both the Moon and Sun are in mutable signs it is likely that we will need to emotionally adapt to changing situations and circumstances in our personal and professional life.
Mars enters Sagittarius and Mercury enters Capricorn on Monday, December 13th. The desire to take action will be most successful if we are following a well thought out plan and strategy.
A Full Moon occurs in Gemini on Saturday, December 18th. This Full Moon is in the Aquarius decan of Gemini and invites us to be more conscious of the changes necessary in our attitudes regarding different cultures and their spiritual beliefs and practices.
Venus goes retrograde in Capricorn on Sunday, December 19th. Venus will not go direct until 1/29/2022 and will not completely be out of the retrograde shadow until 3/2/2022. This retrograde experience of Venus will be a time of much re-evaluation and renegotiation in our personal and professional relationships. Prioritizing what is essential and most valuable for us to focus on in this coming year will help us to experience financial success. Team efforts will require frequent adjustments to find the right balance between performance and profit. Revising our business plans and contractual agreements with others will be necessary in order to insure long-term success.
Chiron also goes direct in Aries on Sunday, December 19th. Chiron’s glyph or symbol looks very much like a key. Chiron in Aries reminds us to make friends with Mars and continue to move forward regardless of opposing energies and attitudes of other people. Healthy confrontations may be necessary in order to achieve our desired goals.
The Sun enters Capricorn on Tuesday, December 21st in the Northern Hemisphere. This event signals the beginning of the Winter season. I will be evaluating the significance of this event in a separate article.
Saturn will be forming an exact square with Uranus on Friday, Christmas Eve and Saturday, Christmas Day. Suffice it to say that things may not go as previously planned and creative problem solving opportunities are likely to be in abundance.
A Last Quarter Phase Moon occurs on Sunday, December 26th in the sign of Libra. Our experience of personal relationships during this time will be in high focus. Compassion and diplomacy are recommended.
Jupiter enters the sign of Pisces on Tuesday evening, December 28th. We will need to learn how to strengthen our faith and grow our soul as Jupiter transits this spiritual sign. Music, meditation and recreational experiences involving water are favored.

IN HONOR OF SAGITTARIUS, THE ARCHER
by Roy Neal
November 21 to December 22
The Sun enters the zodiac sign of Sagittarius on Sunday, November 21st.
The key phrase for Sagittarius is: “I See.” The time of Sagittarius invites us to expand our perception and understanding of what is possible.
The Sagittarius person loves their freedom and wide-open spaces; their destiny is to be a seeker. Adventure, exploration and travel call to the Sagittarian soul. Sagittarians are fond of knowledge. They are always learning and can make good teachers and ministers. Once they have learned something they have a compulsive desire to share it with others.
If you are seeking adventure and enjoy travel and the exploration and experience of foreign countries, philosophy and other cultures you would benefit by spending some time with someone who has the Sun or other personal planets in the zodiac sign of Sagittarius.
