Tick Tock… Your Life Is Not A Clock

So many of us look for resources outside of us – we seek out ‘experts’ on the field, totally trusting that they know what they are doing – and that it will work for us. We go as far as to reach out to Angels, Spirit Guides, Ascended Masters… or at least, the little Guru next door.
Why … why would we believe that they have the perfect answer to all our questions… ?
Why would we think that their ‘wisdom’ will apply to our specific needs… ?
Don’t you think that these wonderful Beings that are so advanced, so beyond our little struggles and turmoils, have a totally different perception of Life, and that they may just look at us and think that all this drama, all these struggles that so bind our Life, are… shall we say, a little ‘petty’.
Now don’t get me wrong – whatever we are going through is indeed important – but only to us… and certainly not to those who have ascended.
They are a lot more concerned with our Eternal Path – and may not worry too much about our present divorce [“What, you still haven’t learned your lesson – after being married and divorced for the last 5 lives, you’d think you’d learned your less on by now ...! Oh well, that’s what future incarnations are for…”] Ok, so, if our personal problems are only important to us , then who should we turn to? Parents … friends … healers … counselors … life-coaches …psychics … politicians [ok, not the last one] Well, you can certainly try them … but again I ask you:- what makes you think they have the right answer for you ?!?
They are not ‘perfect’, nor are they ‘wise and all knowing’ … and don’t think that just because they are older, have gone through the same experience as you, have some college certificate… that this grants them the answer you need at this moment… And no, I’m not advocating that it would be useless to talk with them… just remember – they are only able to offer you their opinion – and nothing more – it’s up to you to figure out IF that’s the right one for you.
So, what are you to do …
Go within… there is nothing ‘out there’ that can make any sense, unless you’ve first gone within, to truly understand why you feel this way… what your struggles really are … and what you are able – or willing – to do about it all. Now – once you have achieved this inner clarity – now you can seek help from an outsider if you still need it… and you’ll be able to process the information correctly … or at least, not lured into a response that is not-you.
The great Teachers have always said – All you seek is within you… the Journey will only take you from you…to you.
You know this – Life is a process of self-discovery; of being aware of the many ways in which we block our success, limit our happiness, or even sabotage ourselves… and through this self-search, become aware of all the great potential that has always been within us, just waiting for us to use it…
So here’s the bottom line – before you run off thinking that there’s someone ‘out there’ that has all the answers, look first within you, be clear as to what you are really seeking – and what would work – or not work – for you… and if you doubt me, let me share with you one of the great principles of Creation:- the question is always linked with the answer … so, if you clearly understand what you seek, then the answer will be revealed …
Easy peasy …
And so we dedicate our classes for this months to the search for our Inner Wisdom … and may you find the Power – and Peace – within you…

A Book Review: Chris Brennan’s Hellenistic Astrology

We thank Bruce Johnson for allowing us to share his writings and insights into the ancient mysteries and the occult.
HELLENISTIC ASTROLOGY skillfully reconstructs and chronicles the origins, records, philosophical substructure, essential tenets, and methodology of archaic western astrology. This exhaustively researched volume begins with ideal horoscope artwork on the cover. The book’s able writing, combined with the figures, tables, example charts, and glossary, greatly assist the reader in understanding the engaging and informative teachings within HELLENISTIC ASTROLOGY.
The first portion of the book reviews Mesopotamian and Egyptian horoscopy; it then explores the inception and historical development of Hellenistic astrology with its three branches, and the astrological customs during the time of the Roman Empire. Subsequent chapters reference notable Hellenistic astrologers, the influence of the Hellenistic system in other civilizations, as well as the philosophical opinions of early astrologers regarding stars and planets as either signs or causes, and whether determinism in human fate was complete or partial.
The body of the work clearly explains the underlying principles and doctrines of the Hellenistic tradition. These eight chapters describe the nature of the planets, zodiacal signs, configurations, the twelve whole sign places and house division, the fundamental Hour-Marker and its Lord, planetary rulers of the places, and the unique roles of benefics and malefics in the conditions called bonification and maltreatment.
The final section reveals a number of fascinating delineation and prediction techniques based on the natal chart, that were used by the Hellenistic astrologers of antiquity. The procedures illustrated include triplicity rulers of the sect light, lots, annual profections, and zodiacal releasing. All of these ancient methods are advantageous when utilized alone, together, or in conjunction with modern transits and progressions.
I highly recommend HELLENISTIC ASTROLOGY to students and teachers alike, as a thorough and illuminating examination of Greco-Roman horoscopic astrology. This enjoyable book contains a wealth of rediscovered astrological lore that is extremely useful and beneficial to contemporary star-readers.
Bruce Johnson has over 30 years of study in the fields of Ancient Wisdom and occultism. He has taught classes on a wide range of topics, from Atlantis to mediums to Zoroaster. He is also a spiritualist minister, with a background in spiritual astrology. He lives in Colorado with his wife and their cat.

Planets And Possibilities – A Look At The Astrology Of September

The month begins with an impressive gathering of personal planets in earthy Virgo, the sign which personifies order and discrimination in our lives. The Sun (our consciousness), Mercury (our thought processes), Venus (our values and relationships) and Mars (our vitality) are all actively engaging with each other and other planets. We’re encouraged to be present and practical as we participate in a myriad of situations, some of them irritating. Let’s remember to be gentle with ourselves and remember that Virgo highly values service to others and oneself.
September 1 mental Mercury has a pleasant encounter with innovative Uranus, in earthy Taurus, and our intuition is heightened and change is in the air. Lovely Venus simultaneously puts her head together with serious SaturnRx, in earthy Capricorn, and their partnership promises stability for the long term. This sets us up for a pleasant Labor Day, the 2nd, as the Sun and Mars connect and boldly energize us to set goals which may involve competition. Here’s where our discernment is useful. It also helps us avoid being misled in relationships when affectionate Venus and excessive Jupiter, in fiery Scorpio, cross paths.
September 3 communicative Mercury and assertive Mars conjoin and we may find that interactions are charged but a lot can be accomplished. The Messenger to the Gods then visits with the Sun and our thoughts expand as we put energy into our heart’s desires. September 4 relationship-oriented Venus and nebulous NeptuneRx, in watery, other-worldly Pisces, throw confusion into the works and we find the lines blurred as to what it is we actually desire. The 5th, Mercury and substantial SaturnRx come to our rescue as they offer grounded advice for us to consider.
September 6 Mercury and NeptuneRx oppose each other and this is a perfect recipe for us getting lost in a misty daze if we don’t embrace the creativity available to us. The Sun and SaturnRx stabilize the situation by helping us identify where our current responsibilities lie and how to fulfill them. This gives us the confidence to welcome the connection between Venus and transformative Pluto, in Capricorn. We’re ready for this deep personal or business relationship.
September 7 Neptune is now confusing Mercury but we’re getting used to his penchant for dissolving all that comes his way. On the 8th, the Sun and Jupiter get into a tussle and we must be skeptical of whatever the King of the Gods is trying to sell us. We’re supported in this by Mercury and PlutoRx putting their heads together and supplying us with profound insights. Mars and SaturnRx collaborate and contribute their energy and soundness to a successful outcome.
September 10 the opposition between the Sun and Neptune challenge us to remain grounded in order to retain our sense of self in the midst of seemingly dissolving boundaries. The 12th Mars and Jupiter clash and extreme behavior may result so we should be prepared to avoid any inflammatory situation.
September 13 the Full Moon (culmination) in transcendent Pisces is preceded by Mercury and Venus, still in Virgo, embracing and exuding charm, sharing their gracious energy with us. Let’s accept this balm as we experience the challenging opposition between the Sun in rational Virgo and the Moon in misty Pisces. With awareness and evolution, this opposition can guide us to intuitive wisdom AND practical knowledge, both worthy goals. The Sabian Symbol states “A prophet carrying tablets of the new law is walking down the slopes of Mount Sinai: The need to bring down to the level of everyday existence the clear realizations made manifest in a great ‘peak experience’.” With the Moon and Neptune pairing up in Pisces right now, let’s take advantage of the ephemeral while investing in our meaningful relationships which serve others.
September 14 Mercury and Venus enter airy, harmony-loving Libra. Our thoughts and affections are transitioning from the analytical to the more aesthetic. Gracious Venus is basking in her own sign and we find our relationships /partnerships coming to the fore. The symbol for this sign is the Scales and we’re eager to seek out the truth.
September 18 Saturn ends his retrograde journey (from 4/30) signaling that it’s time to move forward on our new found insights. The 19th, Mars and Pluto are actually in sync and our assertiveness can be useful in furthering a cause. This benevolent connection doesn’t happen often so let’s harness this power for the good.
September 21 Jupiter and Neptune, both associated with spirituality, challenge each other in Sagittarius and Pisces and religious issues crop up. Idealism or fanaticism may be triggered and confusion may erupt. The 22nd, Mercury’s enthusiasm is dampened by stern Saturn and we may feel droopy ourselves. Fortunately, the Vernal Equinox the 23rd gives us something to celebrate! The Sun goes into airy, justice-loving Libra and the fruits of Spring and Summer are ready to be gathered. Day and night are of equal length and we welcome fall as we begin to turn inward as the light diminishes. Throughout the world Nature is being honored during harvest time and let’s find a way, too.
September 25 affectionate Venus and somber Saturn don’t see eye to eye and the 26th Mercury and PlutoRx are at loggerheads. We’re used to these tussles by now make time for a few moments of stillness to relax. It is also good to have Rescue Remedy handy.
September 28 is the New Moon (new beginnings) in diplomatic Libra and a time for us to plant new seeds for personal growth to be nourished this second half of the year. The Symbol states “A man watches his ideals taking a concrete form before his inner vision. The need to visualize clearly one’s dreams or ideals in order to make them truly effectual…It is a phase of INTERIOR FORMULATION in preparation for a creative projection of one’s ideals or concepts.” We’re preparing for what the future holds.
September 30 Venus and PlutoRx are at odds due to financial and personal issues but, if we pay attention, we come out unscathed. Let’s also remain alert and aware as we continue on this path we’ve chosen and hold hands along the way!

am not an expert on crystals by any means. My Reiki Master first introduced me to crystals when she used them to help heal me. At first the stones were ice cold, and then became hot as the session went on. She also advised me to get some crystals, which led me to find the Shining Lotus Metaphysical Bookstore. In addition to getting the crystals, I found a treasure of spiritual resources including classes on metaphysical topics. So I guess you could say that the crystals led me to my studies of esoteric subjects.
I recently came across a beautiful stone that is not well known. Indigo Gabbro also know as “Mystic Merlinite” was featured on the website of a spiritual author who does weekly readings. I follow her because her themes are consistent with the concepts in my classes. She was very enthusiastic about it because of the power that it possesses. The name alone, “Mystic Merlinite”, infers magical powers. It is mined in Madagascar and is composed of Quartz, Feldspar, and other minerals. She went on to describe some of the wonderful energies found in this stone. It can be used for protection, balancing and centering one’s energies, cleansing and diffusing negative energies, and supporting you on your spiritual path. The low maintenance of this crystal is also very appealing. While other crystals have to be cleared of negative energies in order to be used again, Indigo Gabbro does not.
I did more research on the Internet on this stone, and found other magical powers that it has. It can be used for healing and can be used with other crystals. It also helps your intuition, and helps you to connect with your higher self. In addition to physical healing, it can also help you with your relationships and with your finances. It will expose and heal the dark parts of your life, so that you can move on with your spiritual development.
Both sources suggested meditating with Indigo Gabbro in order to experience its mystic capabilities. I bought a beautiful polished sphere at the bookstore, and have begun using it during my meditation. While I noticed a very calming effect that it had on me, I also felt a very positive force that made me feel very confident in any endeavors that I was about to commence. And this is just a start in working with this new wonderful crystal.
