Angel Cards by Bob Romero
There is a section in the Shining Lotus Metaphysical Bookstore that has many different cards including Tarot and angel oracle cards. I took an in-depth Tarot class that was well worth it, but I wanted to write specifically about angel oracle cards for this article. There was a class offered in April for Angel Oracle Certification. This is so that you can become a professionally trained Angel Oracle Card reader, and be able to read Angel Cards not only yourself, but for others as well, and even charge for your readings. There are also classes offered online that will teach you how to do a reading and become certified.
However, I once heard a speaker at the bookstore say that the universe will tell you anything that you want to know. All you have to do is ask, and look for the answer in however you chose. Whether it’s runes, bones, Tarot Cards, or oracle cards, it depends on the psychic intuition of the reader. He proceeded to ask a sports question, and then randomly picked out a book and randomly turned to a page. He found his answer and predicted the outcome of a game. He turned out to be right.
I was drawn to the angel oracle cards in the bookstore mainly because of my Catholic education. When there were contests in elementary school, the prizes were holy cards of angels and saints, and I loved to collect them. It’s easy to get started with angel oracle card decks, because there is a description on each card and a guidebook is provided. It’s fun to ask a question and then draw a card to see what the answer is. Initially the guidebook is helpful to familiarize yourself with what each card is about. There are readings online in which three cards are drawn, one for the beginning, one for the middle, and the last for the end, of next week. Another popular reading is to pick cards for the past, present, and future.
As you do more readings, you’ll find that you no longer need the guidebook. Instead, it’s best if you go by your initial feeling when you see the card. Also examine the card for any more information or clues. Again use your feelings and not your thoughts, as thoughts bring in the rational mind, which gets in the way of your psychic abilities. Being centered and calm will give a more accurate reading. Meditating before a reading is one way to do this.
I’ve read and heard that these divination tools help will you develop your psychic abilities. In some of my classes, we have talked about how spirit guides can help you on your path. It’s important to determine who they are, and to be able to communicate with them. Because of my lineage, I have chosen saints and angels, and specifically, three archangels. I look to Archangel Michael (which is my middle name) for strength, courage, and protection, I look to Archangel Raphael for healing, and I look to Archangel Gabriel for guidance, direction, and creativity. It so happens that there are angel oracle cards in the bookstore for these archangels, a deck for guardian angels, and my favorite, a deck for saints and angels. So I figure that until I can communicate directly with all of my spirit guides, I can use the card decks to communicate with them. The readings that I’ve done for myself have usually been spot on, and Archangel Gabriel has been especially helpful to me in writing these articles.

Planets And Possibilities – A Look At The Astrology Of May

As we continue our journey through Spring, the Sun (our consciousness) is in earthy, stable Taurus, sharing with us the fecundity of reawakening Nature. It figures that this sign’s ruling planet is Venus and she is assuming her role of manifesting abundance as we plant new seeds that sustain our well-being. She’s the Goddess of Love, Beauty and Money and let’s seek out environments which reflect her appreciation for comfort and serenity. This enhances our grounding as we move forward to consider exciting opportunities looming ahead of us. Mercury (our thought processes) is zipping through fiery, assertive Aries and our minds are functioning at a high speed. This can be very creative but we may feel somewhat overwhelming.
May 1 the Messenger of the Gods disagrees with somber SaturnRx, in earthy Capricorn, who throws doubt on a planned initiative. May 2 he (initially) further complicates a situation by engaging in a fight with relentless PlutoRx, also in Capricorn, who tries to create stress through revealing secrets. As things remain chaotic at the global level, it behooves us to focus on helping ourselves nurture an inner reservoir of calm. This way we’re able to appreciate Mercury’s rendezvous later in the day with optimistic JupiterRx, in fiery belief-oriented Sagittarius, which restores a hopeful perspective to our outlook, preparing us for the new beginnings suggested by the May 4 New Moon when receptive Neptune in Pisces contributes his vision.
The Sabian Symbol for this New Moon in Taurus, known for great determination, states, “Head covered with a rakish silk hat, muffled against the cold, a man braves the storm. The courage needed to meet the crises precipitated by social ambition…This shows a willingness to accept crises and go through them.” Through taking seriously the messages SaturnRx and PlutoRx are sending us, we gain awareness as to how we structure our lives, revealing unacknowledged aspects of ourselves. Daunting as this may sound, we gain a sense of self-trust as shadows dissipate. Are we allowing ourselves to relax and listen to our inner voice? May 5 energetic Mars in airy, inquisitive Gemini and expansive JupiterRx lead us to consider a new, more inclusive view of our life. deepening it’s richness.
May 6 Mercury grounds his winged feet to enter Taurus and assist us in communicating with others in a more laid-back fashion while steering our attention to immediate issues. Practicality of thought trumps our need for excitement as our focus turns to our physical environment. May 7 desirable Venus, still in the sign of the Ram, is confronted by SaturnRx so let’s not be surprised if our interaction with others seems pretty uninspired.
May 8 mental Mercury and brilliant, unpredictable Uranus connect to stimulate each other and come up with innovative scenarios for the future. Let’s hold on to these exciting ideas but not attempt to implement them until the environment is less charged. Come evening, the Sun and Pisces weave artistic visions together and share with us a compassionate, caring atmosphere. How can we access this nurturing?
May 9 ebullient Venus can throw herself into the arms of benevolent JupiterRx and dance to her heart’s content. Let’s ourselves embrace their high spirits and find others to have fun with as we resist the temptation to get intense when Venus encounters PlutoRx..
May 11 the Sun and SaturnRx reassure each other and assure us that we’re handling our responsibilities capably. This sets the tone for a warmth-filled celebration for Mother’s Day the 12th. The 13th the Sun actually ekes out information for us from Pluto who discloses deep- seated desires we’ve been eager to access. Added to this, lovely Venus returns home to join Mercury in Taurus May 15, helping us to increase our appreciation for the natural beauty around us. Shortly there after, vital Mars enters watery, Cancer, the sign of the Mother. This cardinal sign is known for its nurturing and protective proclivities and we may find ourselves focusing on security and and reacting more emotionally than usual to perceived threats. Let’s be conscious of what we’re reacting to.
May 16 Mercury and SaturnRx happily ponder work questions, this grounding energy assisting us to come up with plans for creating a sound foundation. The 17th he consults with Pluto who shares deep insights which give even more strength to our position.
May 18 Venus and Uranus meet in fertileTaurus and we may feel puzzled by the energy they generate since she values harmony while his penchant is the disruption of established order. There may be the element of opposites being attracted to one another but let’s count on surprises being attached to any endeavor. A powerful Full Moon is at hand and being aspected by Neptune, SaturnRx, PlutoRx and Mercury. Also, the Sun (in Taurus) is actually conjoined by Mercury so we basically have a Full House.
This May 18 Full Moon (culmination) is in intense, watery Scorpio which is ruled by Pluto, Lord of the Underworld. From the world of the Unconscious he frequently retrieves treasures from the dark and bestows them upon us gladly. The Symbol states “The King of the Fairies approaching his domain. The capacity in man to recognize and to pay homage to an integrating Principle at the core of all existence…a spiritual world exists to which the intuitive consciousness of man can pay allegiance…” At this time we strive to find balance between the demands of everyday reality and our inner world and we know the Cosmos is our ally in this integration.
May 21 Mercury enters his home sign of Gemini and is closely followed by the Sun. They quickly join forces and we may find ourselves quickly weighing new options and seeking out channels of communication to discuss them. This airy sign is motivated by rationality and curiosity and is known to be changeable. Its symbol is The Twins, one mortal and one immortal, who represent the dualistic nature we all confront in ourselves as we wend our way through life. Mercury, himself, is the Messenger of the Gods and has free reign to travel throughout the realms and can’t be pinned down.
May 22 Mars and UranusRx connect and we pick up on their action-laden energy, inspiring us to get out of our comfort zone and take a chance on a venture. With Uranus in the mix, we realize that our enthusiasm must be tempered by caution.
May 29 Mercury and otherworldly Neptune clash and it becomes hard to distinguish between reality and illusion. It’s important for us to pend before making a decision since deceit may be at play. However, the 30th brings with it a time to embrace the lovely ambiance created by Venus and Neptune as they exchange compassionate vibrations. Mercury is also happy to be hanging out with Jupiter and big ideas are put on the table.
May 31the month wraps with Venus in serious communication with SaturnRx and they’re offering us a sound perspective on long-term strategies to ensure our success, personally and professionally. This is a reassuring message to carry with us!

Walk The Talk… Or Quack Like A Duck

New Age ‘spirituality’ has long been popular…and often abused by unscrupulous people – shocking, is it?! Consider that anyone can call themselves a ‘psychic’, or teach something they just read about, or [if they look at all ‘exotic’] style themselves a ‘Guru’… it’s all just ‘performance art’ – but that is designed to take advantage of your good nature! It’s too easy to ‘roll back your eyes, put on a funny voice, and sprout forth that “The Guides” [or, God forbid, some weird Entity from a different dimension] have a specific message for you”.
Now, don’t get me wrong, I’m NOT saying that all psychics are fakes, nor that Mediums are con artist [I know that there are some wonderful people out there], but seriously, how would you recognize a real one from a fake ? [after all, you don’t have some special ‘gift’ that allows you to know this, nor do you have a wizard in your pocket that will scan everyone you come across.] So, how would you know if they are fakes ?
Easy – just consider the following
1) Do they Walk the Talk – do they live according to the Spiritual Principles they talk about…and, are they truly knowledgeable about them.
2) Are they charging you way too much for a simple session – Yes, I understand that they have to make a living…but if they are charging more than your lawyer / doctor / mechanic…then there’s something wrong
3) Are they pushing you to pay more than what you originally scheduled for… or tell you about some ‘unexpected problems’ that will now cost more to fix… or wanting you to make further appointments
4) Are they judgmental / critical of you – making you feel guilty or ashamed… Are they loud and crass, pushing you to accept their point-of-view, and belittling yours.
5) Are they trying to impress you by telling you how ‘professional’ they are… or wave a Professional Psychic Certificate around… or – even better – tell you that they are ‘an Avatar’ but there’s more –
True Spiritual Seekers are serious about their studies… and have been doing them for decades. They have dedicated their whole Life to Higher Principles, and are committed to live by them. This makes them retreat from the glamour / ego / limelight of society… they do not seek to be worshiped or adored [they know all about Karma, and the consequences of such narcissism] They are continually working on themselves, growing and studying, doing deep self-examination, healing and releasing the Past. Some of them are quite intense, others appear soft and gentle…but they all have deep knowledge and wisdom.
So now you know… the next time someone tries to sell you a ‘healing crystal for $ 5,000… or tell you that you are ‘possessed’… or that ‘you are the Master of the Universe, and you should give up your Life and study with them’… [don’t laugh, all these are things that have actually happened]… then smile and enjoy the show – for this may well be one of the best performances you’ve ever seen, outside of Broadway.
Know this well – the Spiritual path is one of deep commitment, of personal hard work, cleansing and releasing all that is shallow and reactive about one’s self… a Path where the person holds themselves to a very high standard, much higher than what is common in society. We don’t steal / get drunk / do drugs, do not cheat, lie, have indiscriminate sex, consciously hurt or betray others… and most of all, DO NOT want to be glorified.
We walk the Path because… having seen the Light, we would not want it any other way.

The Importance Of The Etheric Body

Esoteric science divides physical substance into seven types or categories. The divisions of physical matter from densest to finest are: dense solid, liquid, gaseous, etheric, super-etheric, sub-atomic, and atomic. These last four categories describe the four grades of etheric matter. Although still disbelieved in by orthodox science, etheric matter will be proven to exist within the next 75 years.
The human etheric body is a network of interlaced channels of energy constructed of the four ethers, and is the framework and pattern for the dense physical body. The etheric body is also the vehicle of pranic vitality to the solid physical body, by which the dense physical body is kept alive. Physical death results when the link between the etheric body and dense physical body is broken. Pranic life energy flows from our Sun, and is received, assimilated, and transmitted to the dense body via the etheric body, also called the etheric double. Everything in physical manifestation including minerals, plants, animals, and humans has an etheric double, which is the underlying basis for its objectivity in concrete form.
Whether a human or a planet, all manifest forms have an organ that acts as a receiver of prana for that entity. In human beings that organ is the etheric duplicate of the physical spleen. Solar life energy is drawn into the spleen chakra where it is specialized to the needs of a particular person. This life force then flows to the etheric spleen, and then to the physical spleen, and is distributed throughout the physical body.
The health of the solid physical body is dependent on the proper functioning of the etheric body. Disorders in the etheric body will be reflected in the dense physical body. Common problems of the etheric body include- insufficient vitality getting to the dense body, energy imbalances causing imbalances in physical chemistry, blocks or congestion of energy in portions of the etheric body, and under and overdeveloped chakras that cause problems in the physical organs corresponding to, and in the area of, those chakras. Headaches for example, are often caused by a congestion of etheric fluid in the head area.
Two good books about the etheric body are-The Etheric Double by A.E. Powell, and Telepathy and The Etheric Vehicle, by Alice A. Bailey.

7.7 Billion Spiritual Paths and You are One of Them

If we can just settle down and realize that we ARE the Spiritual Path we have been looking for, it can bring peace to our everyday life. The peace of knowing we have the answers to everything inside us. Every teacher, every guru, every counselor who understands this Truth, will always direct you inwards. Beauty — A Love Story

It’s 5 o’clock in the morning, quite chilly for November – yes, autumn is fast retreating as we enter our final season.
I lie in bed, savoring the warmth under the deep comforter, listening to my wife gently breathing.
We’ve been married for 46 long years, but it seems just like yesterday… Ah, how short life really is…
I turn to look at her, my beautiful bride, resting so peacefully, a soft smile always lingering on her lips…
I wonder what she’s dreaming about that makes her smile so…
Her hair, now graying, used to be long, well past her shoulders. She cut it recently, said it was getting hard to manage… I gently reach out to touch them, so soft beneath my calloused hand.
As if sensing me she breathes out deeper, and moves closer, to snuggle up to me.
I am always amazed that she has so much trust in me, always seeking to be near me “You’re my rock”, she once said…and how I always make her feel safe – how my quiet strength lets her know that we’ll always manage, always know that, no matter what, we have each other – and that’s what’s really important.
I don’t always feel so strong myself … but I’ll do anything, anything to keep her safe.
She’s wrong you know – she is my rock… my beautiful, beautiful bride.
We got married when she was only 19, and me 23, just out of the army… we both wanted children, but that was not to be… We accepted that [well, after much searching], for our love was good, and sustained us through all our difficulties.
Many said we got married too young – that it’ll never last “Inexperienced” they said “You’ll see” they always added…
Well, we did see – once you know true love, you do ‘see’ life they way it ought to be – filled with kindness, with laughter, with gentle pleasures and appreciation for each other, so we can meet our differences with respect.
Yes, life is like that – sometimes you fight – well, in our case just argue, not really fight, y’know.
We have too much respect for each other, even if at times we did not see things the same way – so yes, we ‘discussed’ things… and found a good compromise.
People think that we’re strange, doing life like that “Who wears the trousers ?” they said, with a smirk on their faces, as if by condemning us, they excuse themselves for their own ineptitude.
What is the point of talking to stupid people – they’ll never know what we do, never experience the love we have in our hearts, never understand what’s like to just hold each other and be … happy.
I treasure this time of the morning, when I can lie here and watch my beautiful bride, peacefully asleep in our bed.
Yes, soon she’ll wake, look at me and shake her head, knowing that I’ve spent this time just looking at her… sometimes she’ll say that she’s not a young woman anymore, that her looks are fading “You’re married to an old woman”, she’ll say… and I’ll just gently kiss her… and say nothing…just holding her tight, that’s enough.
I am the luckiest person in the world – and the richest – for there’s something that I’ve always known: it’s not money that is important, not a big house or fancy car, not how high up the corporate ladder you got, nor how many people seek you out or want to be your friend…
No, what is truly important is real love – the sharing of breath in a single good-morning kiss, the soft look as we make breakfast, the warm hug as I go off to work, and the gentle smile I have every time I think of her…
These are the true riches of Life… and I am truly blessed to have this…
All those long years ago she chose me , and she’ll always have my heart… my beautiful, beautiful bride…
