PLANETS AND POSSIBILITIES: A LOOK AT THE ASTROLOGY OF JULY

July 1 welcomes a Full Moon(culmination) in earthy, industrious Capricorn. Consistant with the monthly Moon cycle, it is opposite the Sun(our consciousness) in watery, intuitive Cancer. Let’s check out what tone will be set for the month since this power house combination engages two cardinal, assertive signs which actively initiate new attitudes and are proactive in the face of change once balance has been achieved in the interaction.
Cancer seeks to nurture self and others but can tend to emotional insecurity. Capricorn wishes to contribute through practical achievements but, in the process, may become emotionally detached from others. Their approach to reaching their goals is dramatically opposed since Cancer relies on the Crab’s indirect sideways navigation while Capricorn personifies the Mountain Goat’s assertive mission to reach the top of the peak. The planets who rule them must be investigated to figure out where there is common ground between them.
Mother Moon represents our subconscious needs and emotional ties while Father Time Saturn acts as a teacher guiding us to maturity. Both are invested in ensuring our wellbeing through security(Cancer) and stability(Capricorn) which is no easy task in this time of chaos. They understand the difference between security and stagnation and stability vs. rigidity and promote creative change shedding previously held assumptions and expectations when no longer useful. They are aware that nurturing our inner life and investing in self-knowledge is the means by which we flow with the tide, allowing trust in ourselves to develop.
“An albatross feeding from the hand of a sailor, the overcoming of fear and its rewards.”
The Sabian Symbol addresses the outcome of our efforts with “An albatross feeding from the hand of a sailor; the overcoming of fear and its rewards.” The sailor and bird recognize a mutual sympathy because they are at peace with each other. We’re given support in overcoming agitation by Mars(action) and Mercury(thought) pouring Cancer’s nurturing energy over us to promote our flexibility.
Are we cultivating activities and/or practices that lend us succor?
Maintaining our equilibrium is important when the Sun is compromised July 6 by intense Pluto and then July 12 by revolutionary Uranus in fiery Aries. Isn’t it fortunate that we have resources to combat the furor that these outer planets insist on causing. Let’s get out the Rescue Remedy and review the list of calming, grounding aids. We want to be in great shape when the Sun enters generous, spontaneous Leo July 22.
The ruling planet of Leo is the Sun and is depicted by the powerful, authoritative Lion. When Leo is involved, we can count on high spirits and drama which leads us to believe the Sun, playful Jupiter and, to a certain extent, pleasure loving Venus hanging out together should be interesting. This is great but we must remember it’s a combination which can be a little extreme.
What pleasurable activities should we pursue to take advantage of these high spirits?
July 25, Venus goes retrograde and Uranus follows suit on the 26th. During the periods when there’s a backward movement, it’s thought that the planet’s energies may be internalized. With Venus, let’s revisit our most valued relationships and with Uranus, where we find ourselves to be at our most authentic.

DON’T WALK ON MY SOUL…

Life is movement – Stagnation is death… yet too often it is our passive acceptance of a situation which makes it so. Everything is in motion – be it a flower, a science, or a civilization … all hoping to fulfill their destiny [or at least have fun trying].
What makes this movement successful or not are the Qualities contained in the person and the Path taken – these now become the ‘fuel’, encouraging us to achieve our goal… or miring us in failure. Thus if we embrace love/beauty/happiness … then so we will be rewarded – while if we wallow in criticism/anger/bitterness… then this [by our choice] will be our Life.
Everywhere I look I see people struggling to better their life, consciously trying to be happy, be kind, be generous… while others simply sit with their noses up in the air, taking advantage of the situation, using, abusing, and manipulating others… even as they congratulate themselves that they are ‘entitled’… that they ‘know better’… that, in fact, they are better.
Well, don’t let that fool you – Karma is a jealous mistress and, once she has her claws in you, she won’t let go… [hey, here’s a question for you: “what do you think your next life will be remember – what goes around, comes around…“, and, as my witchy friends so love to remind me, ‘will come back threefold!’].
Which leads me to the most important point: “When was the last time you talked to your Soul?“… and why is this becoming so important now…?
Well, in case you haven’t noticed, there is a ‘quickening’ going on.. .a compression of energies too much stress … too many demands … too many people manipulating the ‘Truth’ … too many negative emotions ruling the mind … too many dark thoughts … and much, much, too much righteousness…
So now I ask you: “how much time are you dedicating to Love, to Beauty, to the enjoyment of Life… how prepared are you in dealing with this increasing craziness – and ifnot, how safe’ will you be … ? … what does your future hold … and what will you become … ?”
OK, time to get back to our own Self-Empowerment, our own true Inner Self.., this month’s classes are dedicated to our communion with Spirit, to the Triple-Flame of Love-Light-Wisdom to embracing our own Inner Peace … and to explore the requirement we must meet for our next Spiritual Initiation …
No, it’s not difficult … after all, you’ve spent many, many, many past lives getting ready for this … [I know, I was there with you . . . but will you be here, now…?!]

THE MYSTICAL PLANET VULCAN

The ancient Chaldeans knew of the invisible planet Vulcan, a world considered hypothetical by modern astronomers. The little known Vulcan lies veiled within the orbit of Mercury, always within 8.5 degrees of the Sun. Esoteric Astrology teaches that Vulcan is related to the heart of the sun, is one with the sun, and is a symbol of the human soul on Earth, who like Vulcan, the divine fashioner, works in and through dense physical matter. Vulcan energies are symbolized by fire deep in the core of Earth.
Vulcan is one of the many physically invisible and/or etheric worlds in our solar system that radiate subtle etheric forces affecting Earth. Vulcan signifies the miner who descends into the depths of the earth for materials to transform into tools of beauty and utility. Vulcan is the blacksmith of the gods who purifies and forges metals, and works in the most concrete expression of physical matter. He also creates tools to liberate the Soul from the chains of matter, leading to regeneration and rebirth. . Vulcan as ruler of the mineral kingdom uplifts and refines matter and similar to the mythical Phoenix, destroys forms only to rebuild them in a greater and more perfect pattern for the evolving soul within.
Vulcan is one of seven sacred planets of our solar system and corresponds to the spiritual will, or the Will of the Soul. Vulcan vibrates to the red ray, and works to unify the Soul Will with the personality will. By attuning to the high frequencies of Vulcan, one understands the right use of power, the Spiritual Will, the right use of physical substance in God’s plan for Earth, and the purpose for both the creative and destructive forces in nature. Vulcan, like the Hindu god Siva, is a transforming power for both the building and destruction of physical forms that encase and sometimes imprison the spirit or life within them. Vulcan energy never destroys the life within the forms.
Vulcan is the esoteric ruler of Taurus, the most physical sign, and is said to be sometimes veiled by the Moon which is exalted in Taurus. The positive influence of Vulcan will be increasingly felt as the Aquarian Age unfolds. The majority of humanity is not yet attuned to, and lacks the ability to respond to, the vibrations of Vulcan at this time. Vulcan’s spiritual energy will become more prominently felt and responded to as humanity’s evolution proceeds. Increasing numbers of humans through spiritual attunement will be able to bend the will of the small self to that of the Divine Self, becoming intelligent instruments of Divine Will for the good of the whole.
