HERE’S YOUR OPPORTUNITY TO HAVE IT ALL…

Have you ever wondered why, no matter how hard you try, Life never quite rewards you fully… so now you try even harder, firmly believing that “you are a good person, and you deserve to be happy, fulfilled, and even loved” (though you would settle for simply being appreciated). You ask Life to be ‘fair’, people in authority to behave honorably, relationships to be based on respect… after all this IS how you behave… so why don’t others…?

Then some ‘psychic‘ starts prattling forth about ‘Karma’ – and how all this is your ‘Penance’ for some unknown atrocity you have committed in a previous Life… and then (here’s the kicker) that you must just “bite your tongue and accept it!” Sounds familiar… well, I simply don’t ‘accept it’ – after all if we are created in God’s image, and Her Divine Breath is within each of us… then surely there is a better way to deal with this so called ‘Karma’..? (and do I really have to just give up this Ideal Life I yearn for so much…).

Guess what? There IS a better solution – and it is ‘the Light Within’!

So, in honor of the Spring Equinox (and of the Summer Queen and Her Seelie Court) I am dedicating March to be ‘Mad-Hatter’ Month, and invite you all to throw away these limiting beliefs, become more individualized – to reject these simplistic ‘truths’, and truly face up to Karma (that bitch!), and awaken this gracious Light Within (oh peaceful comfort)… and once and for all BE more Self-Empowered.

Now, ask yourself… are you ready for this?… or are you soooo comfortable in a Victim Identity (which does give us good reasons to keep whining and moaning without having to do anything about it…) Oh, drama… wonderful drama!

What unseen words still knock to be reopened,
Like the Hall of Records, beckoning to be heard?

Like the unseen flower who loves to be noticed,
What ancient deeds and thoughts still wait to bloom again?

What would they tell us with opened verse?
What secrets and delights would they marshal for inspection?

They would speak of love.
They would speak to hold the eye single.
They would explain why we forgot our birthright and our origin
And of the heavens when we crafted this moment.

They would tell of sacred cycles,
Of the depth of repeated effort and our birth to truth;
That eternal canopy that shelters our tomorrows,
Not unlike a mother’s wing.

They would explain the atom’s spin,
Of attraction and repulsion,
And why we’re here,
So much so, like a father’s consoling word.

What drives the archeologist to dig and scratch and search?
What pushes the highest climber to distant lands?
But to know all that is, to feel and see and do.

Why?

Because we are made that way.
It’s recorded, hidden in the ancient voice.
It’s our nature to embrace all that we see
And to do all that we think.

It’s a time capsule,
Buried in our genes
To be recovered by our command, by our voice;
Not by the ancients or from the sunken caverns of a distant land.

PLANETS AND POSSIBILITIES: A LOOK AT THE ASTROLOGY OF MARCH

March winds are blowing in some really dense astrological aspects which should give us a lot to reflect upon. Let’s check out the basics first:

The Sun (consciousness), Moon (emotion), Neptune (paradox) and Chiron (uniqueness) are all in Pisces (imagination) which itself has Neptune as its ruler. These planets promoting a watery (sensitive) theme fit nicely with the February 28/March 1 New Moon (potential) in Pisces scenario. It’s Sabian Symbol is “Men traveling a narrow path, seeking illumination“, and we know the rational, analytic mind must be transcended to accomplish this.

On March 1, Mars (drive) turns retrograde (energy turned inward) in Libra (relationships) which means there will be a huge emphasis on revisiting and reviewing interpersonal arrangements and contracts which may test the solidity of their foundations. Saturn (boundaries) in Scorpio (secretiveness) turns retrograde March 2, further implying an increased delving into what’s working in our emotional lives and what isn’t. Jupiter (expansion) in Cancer (domesticity) turns direct on March 6, beaming energy to these emotionally charged personal issues which could cause volatility. It will serve us well to be conscious of our own fragility as well as the vulnerabilities of others. We’ve been accessing previously unavailable information which will help us maneuver through these mine fields and to be open to adding or subtracting that which is based on self-empowerment.

The Full Moon (culmination) in Virgo on March 16, offers a reward for all this introspection in the form of pleasing interactions. “Aristocratic elderly ladies drinking afternoon tea in a wealthy home“, the Sabian Symbol speaks to the benefits an individual receives by being with others in a congenial atmosphere. Relaxing in a comfortable environment offers an opportunity to expand our frame of reference and exchange energies. On the surface this may seem rather banal, but we know that stagnation accompanies isolation and we need all the vitality we can get in these unpredictable times. What strikes your fancy in terms of cordial socializing?

This brings us to the exciting astrological New Year, the Vernal Equinox, when the Sun (consciousness) arrives in Aries (action) on March 20. With the advent of Spring, we feel the wonderful promise of new life that Nature creates for us with this new cycle. As soon as the weather permits, we really should get out and observe the changes taking place. We’re a part of Nature and are able to change, too.
What would be a fulfilling new activity to embrace during this charged time?

Revitalization is the name of the game and is supported by the March 30th New Moon (beginnings) in Aries (action), whose Sabian Symbol “A teacher gives new symbolic forms to traditional images” reinforces the message that in the midst of the tremendous changes we’re experiencing, we can adapt. There are ways to rework or replace our outdated ideas without sacrificing the essence of what we value. This requires time, analysis and creativity, but most of all, a belief in ourselves. As we understand ourselves better and better, we can be more confident that all this introspection is paying off!

VENUS SYMBOLS OF THE TAROT

Venus as the goddess of love and light bearer to earth is an ancient symbol of the soul. Venus, like the human soul, is dual, with a solar or electric energy, balanced by a lunar or magnetic force. She demonstrates her solar influence in the tarot through the Strength card and her lunar traits through the Empress card, which includes the cross of Venus.

The cross of Venus, like the ankh that was sacred to Isis, places the circle of spirit above the cross of matter. This astrological symbol for Venus represents the unifying and balancing of two opposite forces. The circle represents spirit, the higher self, and the positive pole. The cross depicts matter, the human personality, and is negatively polarized. Combined, the circle and cross indicate our total being, part spiritual and divine and part physical and human.

The Strength card displays a woman dressed in white with wreathes of roses peacefully controlling a lion. She is the solar expression of Venus manifesting as divine mind. The symbol of infinity is above her head as she completely dominates the lower animal nature personified by the lion. This card shows Venus as the spiritual soul blending with and governing the lower personality. Additionally, this card reflects the third major initiation of the soul, the Transfiguration, and the Libra rulership of Venus.

The Empress card shows a queen with a crown of 12 stars and a scepter of power, sitting on a throne. She is Mother Nature, surrounded by green growing life, with a heart symbol resting against her throne. The center of the heart holds the cross of Venus with the circle colored green, the color of Venus. She represents the creative life of physical matter and corresponds to the lunar feminine aspect of Venus. This card portrays the love nature of Venus and her rulership of the sign Taurus.

Combining the solar and lunar qualities of the Strength and Empress cards reveals the Wisdom/Love basis of Venus and the soul. Venus as the morning star is wisdom, while Venus the evening star is love.
