TOXIC CHAOS…OR…HOW I LEARNED TO LIVE A JOYOUS LIFE

Many, many, many years ago friends of mine decided that “it was about time that I grew up and settled down…and that they knew this really nice girl…”
She was described as fun, energetic and passionate. Giving in to my curiosity I accepted…and it turned out to be the most bizarre – but energetic – date. Quite simply, I thougt, we would catch a play, go to a nice little Italian restaurant, and see what happens…well, what did I know…?
It all started when I thought I would ‘take a short-cut’ which landed me on a road much too narrow – overwhelmed by traffic, I rushed (just a few minutes late) to her apartment only to find her already waiting for me impatiently. What followed was (ehm) ‘an interesting discussion’ as to the best way to get to the Theatre. We did get there (just in time), flying up the stairs and being rushed to our seats just as the curtains rose (be grateful for small mercies, we did not have any time for chit-chat).
The play was, I thought, rather nice – some experimental piece about inner angst and getting lost in an overwhelming world of money and prostitution. How was I to know that she was a “cultural activist”, with strong opinions about the writer, the director, and the leading actress? I seem to remember her multiple use of the words prostitution!, debasement of human morals!, Nietzsche (yes, good ol’ Freddy)…and some other stuff. She was a Philosophy major, so she had a good vocabulary.
Dinner was…well, the food was, as always, great (although I must say, that night I appreciated the wine a bit more)…let’s just say that the discussion followed as it had been. As I drove her home – thinking that finally it was over – she totally surprised me by saying how stimulating the evening had been, how much she had enjoyed our ‘exchange of opinions’ and that she was looking forward (really?!) to our next date!!!
Well, smack me with a mackerel… and here I thought that it was beyond ruined! (no, I did not take her up on her offer of a night cap…I may be a guy, and I know all about which head drives my hormones…but I can equally look into the future. If this was what she found exciting, then I would have no pleasure. So, as a good gentleman (yes, I can be that as well) I politely declined…and refrained from making further comments…
What did all this teach me? NEVER allow your ‘friends’ to meddle in your lovelife… next – DO NOT accept any blind dates without much research…but most of all – Way too many people enjoy the Drama of Life…all that is Chaotic, Traumatic, filled with Turmoil…they find exciting! For them, this is Life at its most interesting…How sad!
Later, through my Spiritual Studies, I learned about the connection between Chaos and Illness…between Drama and Unhappiness…between Antagonism and the Dark Brotherhood.
Which brings me to this month’s classes – October is dedicated to learning how to release our Toxic Emotions, how to balance our Stress, how to awaken our Higher Mind, and how to create ‘True and Proper protection’…so that we can all embrace a Joyous Life. Or, would you like an ‘energetic date’…I know this girl who…she’s really nice…very (ehm) “fun…energetic…passionate“…

MOVE BEYOND YOUR DIAGNOSIS

PLANETS AND POSSIBILITIES: A LOOK AT THE ASTROLOGY OF OCTOBER

The sign of Libra (relationships) is ruled by Venus (love) and we find ourselves entering October with the Sun being influenced by interpersonal considerations. The status quo on which we’ve based our lives and choices is eroding and we are unsure what to expect as we forge ahead. A lot of times our role in the family or community may be changing and this can put pressure on our closest associations.
Libra is reminding us that, with effort and commitment, balance can be achieved in our relationships in spite of external influences. Open communication is a key factor in making this possible and that requires us to be aware of where we are coming from.
Fortunately, the New Moon in Libra (balanced new cycles) on October 4 carries a reassuring message regarding the inner work we have been doing. The Sabian Symbol for this Moon, alludes to miners emerging from a deep well after successfully meeting challenging circumstances. I relate this to the soul searching we’ve been encouraged to go through in order to understand and process intense feelings and previously hidden material whose seeds were planted long ago. Persevering in this hard work has reaped the reward of increased self knowledge.
This new awareness will really come in handy as we face whatever surprises may be in store relating to the ongoing Uranus/Pluto square (intense revolution). It will also help us in evaluating how to deal with the dilemma posed by the October 18 Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Aries (active change). This Full Moon’s Sabian Symbol describes a man possessed of more gifts than he can hold. It implies that the possibility of success is built into our situation if we are able to read how to use our resources and not be seduced by its illusory glamor.
In evaluating what we have to offer and how that can be employed in contributing to others’ well being, we will avoid overextending ourselves or acting irresponsibly. What attributes of yours would you like to tap into? Who would you like to join forces with?
On October 21, Mercury (thought) turns retrograde in Scorpio (mystery) followed on October 22 by the Sun (your core identity) going into Scorpio (the hidden). We are encouraged to be alert to hidden messages and ground ourselves in order to be sensitive to our intuition. In delving below the surface of our experiences we may find profound insights. Whether we rely on being in nature, meditate or have other outlets for achieving stillness, the results will really be worth the effort!

Esoteric Science teaches that physical matter exists in seven grades or levels of density. The coarseness or fineness of the matter corresponds to its rate of vibration. Our physical bodies contain all seven grades of physical matter. The visible portion of the human body we call the dense physical body. It is composed of the three densest or lowest levels of physical matter, solid, liquid and gaseous.
The invisible portion of the body is called the etheric body or etheric double. This etheric body is made of physical matter from the four finest or highest grades of etheric substance. These four grades of super-subtle physical matter are very much finer than the most rarefied gas, but are still physical in nature. The etheric body interpenetrates, and is the template for, the dense physical body. The etheric body is not a vehicle of consciousness, but the energy body which translates prana or vitality for use by the dense physical body. It receives solar prana from the sun, specializes this life force to the particular needs of the dense physical body, and distributes this specialized prana life force throughout the etheric body, and then to the dense physical body.
The network of nadis in the etheric body which distributes the pranic vitality, is the underlying pattern for the bodies nervous system, as the main chakras on the surface of the etheric body, are the root of the physical endocrine glands. The aura of the etheric body normally projects a few inches beyond the skin. A vital person has lines of force within the health aura that project 90 degrees from any portion of the body. When a person is depleted or sick, these energy lines droop and sag with the lack of life force vitality. Brilliant sunshine generates vast amounts of pranic life force. Less solar vitality is generated during cloudy weather, and even less at night. Several days of cloudy weather show a marked decrease of prana in the atmosphere. Prana is more abundant and available in summer months than winter ones, peaking at the summer solstice. The sun radiates other energies in addition to solar prana. Some of these energies are harmful to humans. The goal and challenge is to draw in the beneficial energies of the sun while blocking out the destructive ones

Nature’s Finer Forces by Rama Prasad is a classic work on prana.
