taught by Mario C. Veo

A new series of Spiritual and Metaphysical Studies taught by Mario C. Veo

(an ongoing program, starting Jan 12 & 26).

Esoteric Science is a deep investigation into advanced Spiritual Metaphysical Principles, and teaches us how to quicken our Spiritual Evolution in alignment with the Laws of Creation, of energy and power.
Part 1 examines The Seven Rays – Basic streams of energies which emerge directly from the Creator to shape reality. Each one of us has up to 5 of these Rays active within us – some serve to strengthen and support, others are our challenges. By revealing these energies we learn more about our gifts and abilities, and how best to apply this inner essence to create a spontaneous flow of pure energy between ourselves and Spirit (by embodying such Truth we release ourselves from the struggles of living as simple humans with limited perception of higher realities.)
This on-going course is open to all seekers of such knowledge, regardless of your current level or lineage – this is my personal invitation for you to join us on this Path to Wisdom.

Mario C. Veo, is a Spiritual Counselor and a Practitioner of Esoteric Arts. He teaches classes and individuals on Self Empowerment and Personal Transformation. Mario is available for personal guidance and consultations on Tuesday afternoons at the Shining Lotus Metaphysical Bookstore. He can be reached at 303.380.7336.

Picture a nice warming tea on a cold day. Sweat it out. Move germs along to the exterior before they get lodged in. This is what Ginger Rhizome (Zingberis officinale Rosco) can do. Pungent, hot and dis- persing fresh Ginger is just the ticket when you‘re thinking some version of “Uh oh, my head hurts a little and my throat is thick.”

So get thee to the grocery store and pick up some Fresh Ginger Root in the produce section, so you will have it on hand when you need it. Put it in a zip lock baggy. It stores nicely in the freezer for a long time.
Chinese wisdom says that fresh ginger promotes sweating and the dried tincture or tea expels interior cold. Ginger root has a natural affinity towards the respiratory and GI systems. It‘s a no-brainer for a cold coming on, with or without a little stomach upset to boot.

Primary Actions of Ginger:
Anti-inflammatory/Analgesic: Inhibits formation of inflammatory prostaglandins leukotrine and throm- boxanes. Inhibits release of substance P (for pain) much like the capsaicin in Cayenne.

Expectorant and Anti-Bacteria/Viral: Will kill germs and get up phlegm.

Anti-emetic: Reduces nausea.

Increases Circulation: Anti-platelet.

Diaphoretic: Warms the body, creates sweating. Helps maintain body temperature and inhibits sero- tonin-induced hypothermia.

Brew Some Fresh Ginger Tea: (as the need arises) One cup of tea (8 oz) Grate one teaspoon of fresh or fresh frozen ginger. (If some peels get in, that‘s a good thing). Simmer root in a little over eight ounces of water for 10 minutes. Remove from heat. If you like, add some grated fresh orange peel or a few peppermint leaves. Strain. Add honey to soothe the throat and give some bug killing action. Yum.

Daily Dose: 3 cups. Make up enough for a day. Triple above recipe. Store in glass jar in fridge and reheat as needed.

Safety: This is a very mild herb with few contraindications. Safe in pregnancy and lactation. Some- times used for ―morning sickness‖. Slight anti-platelet activity. Best used short term for immediate symptom relief.
Other tidbits: Used as a pungent spice and medicine for thousands of years. The whole fresh root is called ―Green Ginger‖. Its use is recorded in Sanskrit and Chinese texts and is documented in ancient Greek, Roman and Arabic medical literature. Was probably one of the first cultivated plants ever. Grown in India, China, Jamaica, Haiti and Nigeria.

BECOME A MASTER HERBALIST! Next training begins February 2010. Check out the 450-hour, 17- month Program. Botanical Medicine: East and West. Presented by “Just for Health School of Reflexology & Healing Arts” Rachel Lord, Director 303-320-4367.,

INFINITE POSSIBILITIES: The Art of Living Your Dreams by Mike Dooley    $25.00

In just a few short years, Mike Dooley has established himself as an internationally respected speaker, teacher, contributor, and author of several bestselling books, including his own Notes from the Universe trilogy, as well as contributing to Rhonda Byrne’s blockbuster—The Secret. Throughout his journey, Dooley discovered that even through everything in our world compels us to believe that we are limited, and insists that there’s only so much we can do in this life, he believes that we are beings of infinite potential – adventuring through an open field of possibilities.

Infinite Possibilities is a triumphant refrain of this core truth, an illuminated guidebook that reminds readers how powerful they truly are, how far they can reach, and how much they are able to receive. Dooley outlines the astonishingly simple rules of the universe – other laws, besides the law of attraction, that are working consistently and logically on every facet of your being. It’s our challenge, and our gift, that we can align ourselves with those laws so that we can achieve our highest potential. Infinite Possibilities opens wide the door to each reader, and provides concrete tools that everyone can immediately use to bring their dreams into reality.

We are excited to offer this beautiful line of dichroic glass pendants. Each pendant shields the wearer from negative and potentially harmful energies while bestowing a very powerful high-level vibration of healing and awareness.

Local Denver artist Sandy Jackson places within every Chakra Pendant her most heartfelt intention of love, joy, abundance and health. Each piece is energetically opened, charged and blessed by a Reiki master to balance and clear the chakras of the wearer. The pendant is then closed and locked to act as an energetic shield, repelling harmful energies from itself as well as the person who wears it.

OPHELIA’S ORACLE by Local Authors, Donna DeNomme & Tina Proctor    $16.95

The story of a bright, physically active pre-teen who often feels lost when she asks herself the question, “Who am I?” Her mother is Japanese-American with strict rules about her daughter‘s behavior and is often frustrated by Ophelia‘s need to separate herself from her heritage. Ophelia‘s Japanese grandmother touches her deeply with the story of Amaterasu, the sun goddess who withdraws her light from the world in anger at her younger brother‘s behavior. As Amaterasu emerges from her cave, she gazes into a mirror hung on a tree and is amazed at her own beauty …. Ophelia also begins to appreciate herself in new ways as she learns the stories of other goddesses who represent her female ancestry. In this delightful way, she explores her feelings about her growing emergence as a teen girl and embraces her own feminine wisdom.

DEFY GRAVITY: Healing Beyond the Bounds of Reason by Caroline Myss    $24.95

New York Times best-selling author Caroline Myss draws from her years as a medical intuitive to show that healing is not only physical — it is also a mystical phenomenon that transcends reason.
Inspired by ordinary people who overcame a wide array of physical and psychological ailments — from rheumatoid arthritis to cancer — Caroline dove into the works of the great mystics to gain a deeper understanding of healing‘s spiritual underpinnings. Based on these studies, she demonstrates how conventional and holistic medicine often fall short in times of need. Both systems rely upon a logical approach to curing illness when there is nothing reasonable about the emotional, psychological, or spiritual influences behind any ailment.

Integral to this mystical healing approach is the engagement of the soul, which we experience through exploring our seven shadow passions, building an empowered inner self around our seven inherent graces, and learning how to work with the mystical laws that govern the soul. This knowledge holds the key to understanding what it means to defy gravity and break through the boundaries of ordinary thought. You can heal any illness. You can channel grace. And you can learn to live fearlessly.

December 1st begins with the Full Moon in the versatile sign of Gemini. We broaden our communications through Gemini‘s innate exuberance for networking, brainstorming, attending social engagements, communicating on the Internet and social media, writing, speaking, and multi-tasking. On that same day, Uranus, the planet of sudden and erratic change, turns direct, creating unexpected bursts of intuitive, innovative and potential unsettling energies. Uranus has been retrograde since July, suppressing restless energies on an internal level. As Uranus turns direct, there is a sudden inclination to actualize changes. Be advised not to act impulsively.

On December 16th, the New Moon in Sagittarius shifts us into higher spiritual consciousness, as we turn to our higher power for answers. Mars retrogrades through the sign of Leo on December 20th, where it will remain through March 2010. The sign of Leo, represents creativity, heart centered and risking taking pursuits, courage, love, romance and children. As with all retrogrades, this energy becomes an internalized process as we explore our deepest passions and desires. The best use of this fiery energy is through creativity. The Winter Solstice takes place on December 21, marking a seasonal shift to begin of the winter season.

What many people experience in life are choices we made to grow and learn before we took on our current body, personality and situation. Some believe we have to  ‘pay back‘ on a karmic balance sheet, while others accept we sometimes choose to experience  ‘opposite side of the coin‘ conditions rather than  ‘have to‘ do so. Since we have free will in each lifetime to choose whatever we want — even changing those pre-choices — each day we can make choices to live more joyfully and successfully through our understanding and acceptance of self and others through patience, compassion and love.

Through hypno/regression therapy — using relaxation techniques — we can deliberately re-experience earlier parts of our current life or others to release the effect of any trauma that is stored in our mind or the cells of our body. This will be a monthly group where each person will have the opportunity to release any restrictions they wish. Since nothing happens by  ‘accident‘, those who are drawn to participate will normally find themselves in some of each others‘ past lives. Please wear comfortable clothing, and if you would like to relax on the floor rather than a chair, bring a pillow and/or blanket. There will be two sessions each night with a short break between. Call 303-758-9113 to register.
