We begin the month of January on New Year’s Day with the Moon entering Aquarius and forming a conjunction with the planet Pluto. This aspect is symbolic of our emotional transformation and awakening to a new experience of personal empowerment.

Just minutes later the Moon is opposition to Mars in Leo. This opposition compels us to take action and express the desires of our heart. For some this could be a declaration of personal or romantic love. For others an opportunity to experience spiritual love as Venus enters the sign of Pisces on Thursday, January 2nd. Compassion and unconditional love will be easier to access and experience while Venus is transiting the sign of Pisces.

Mars retrogrades back into the sign of Cancer on Monday, January 6th just before the First Quarter Phase Moon occurs in Aries. Our primary motivation will be for personal and professional security while Mars is transiting the sign of Cancer.

Mercury enters the sign of Capricorn on Wednesday, January 8th. Our thoughts and decisions are likely to be of a practical and business nature while Mercury is in Capricorn.

The North Node of the Moon will retrograde back into the sign of Pisces on Saturday, January 11th. Pisces is a water sign ruled by Neptune, which has a spiritual expression and a worldly one. If we are in tune with the spiritual side of our nature, we will be inclined to seek a higher form of connection and guidance so we can actualize our creative potential and fulfill our soul purpose.

During the time while the Sun is transiting the sign of Capricorn, we are encouraged to cultivate self-discipline so we can stay on track to achieve our goals.

Full Moon in CancerOur emotional availability to be sensitive and in tune without spiritual guidance will be tested as the Full Moon occurs in Cancer on January 13th.

Our challenge will be to successfully integrate our spiritual wisdom into the mundane activities of everyday life. This becomes apparent as the Moon transits the sign of Virgo on the 16th, 17th and 18th of January.

New Moon in AquariusThe Sun enters the sign of Aquarius on Sunday, January 19th. The expression of independence and rebellion usually associated with Aquarius will be toned down because the Moon is in the harmonious sign of Libra.

A more quiet and subversive tone occurs as the Moon enters Scorpio and forms a square to Pluto and the Sun on Tuesday, January 21st. Self-preservation may be required to delay our revolutionary plans and thinking as Mercury enters Aquarius on Monday, January 27th. It may be wise to wait until the Moon and Mercury conjoin Pluto just before the New Moon in Aquarius on Wednesday, January 29th. This is the same date as the beginning of the Chinese Lunar New Year of the Snake. The wisdom of the Snake may be to keep a low profile until circumstances indicate a time to strike.

Revolution and change are definitely indicated as Uranus returns to direct motion on Thursday, January 30th.
