THE SECOND BIRTH & THE SUN CARD

Sun Card
Jesus taught in John 3:3 that to see the Kingdom of God, a person must be born again. He then refers to a birth of the flesh, or our birth onto Earth, and a birth of the Spirit, called the second birth. The second birth of the ancient mystery religions related to the regeneration the soul experienced as a result of inner illumination and spiritual initiation. Jesus, as mystery school initiate himself and teacher of the Ancient Wisdom spoke this truth of soul rebirth in a way that those who have eyes and ears to see and hear would understand.
The Sun card of the tarot symbolizes the rebirth of the soul described in the Book of John. The naked child is the soul, the” Child of the Sun”, reborn into a natural, innocent, and joyous condition. The child holds its arms outstretched and forms the five- pointed Star of Initiation with its body. A flowered wreath of spiritual achievement crowns the head of the child, along with the feather of truth pointing toward the life- giving and immortal Sun in the background.
The victorious divine child carries an unfurled orange banner signifying the triumph and conquest of light over darkness. The banner represents the unfolding of the soul’s dharma, which is rooted in the positive character qualities contained within the traveling bag of the spiritual seeker shown in 0, The Fool card.
The Sun card shows the soul riding the White Horse of the Sun, like Vishnu of the Hindu trinity, Sosiosh the Persian redeemer, the goddess Kwan Yin, Buddha, and the Savior in the Book of Revelations. The white horse is an ancient symbol for the purified lower nature that has become attuned to, and a vehicle for, the illumined intelligence of the God Self.
The Sun card shows the soul beginning a new stage of the divine journey, leaving the walled garden of human experience and limitation behind. The four sunflowers represent the Sun’s spiritual energy manifesting in the world of tangible physical matter. The sunflowers follow the movement of the solar-child revealing it to be a miniature manifestation of that great Cosmic Life represented by the Sun above.

APRIL ASTROLOGICAL UPDATE

In the wake of Japan’s massive destruction and tremendous loss, we find our lives irrevocably changed. We join the collective with heartfelt compassion, as we offer our support, love and prayers in commemoration of this devastating human tragedy.
It is important to note that this major event occurred on March 11th, just as Uranus (the awakener planet, of sudden and erratic change) made its transition out of the watery sign of Pisces, as it entered zero degrees Aries (a zodiacal sensitive point) resulting in brute force and massive destruction. This transit also reactivated the cardinal cross that occurred last summer at (zero degrees) Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn symbolizing a crossroad in consciousness, where the veil of illusion has been lifted. Uranus will remain in the sign of Aries for a seven-year journey, where it will be intensified by seven squares (challenging aspects) to Pluto (2010-19).

Mercury, Venus, and Mars join the Sun as it transits through the untamed sign of fiery Aries. Courage is the keyword that comes to mind, as each planet makes its respective conjunction with Jupiter. Interesting new directions impact our goals, having long range effects down the road. The New Moon in Aries on April 3rd, reminds us to act with boldness and clear intention as we initiate new beginnings. Neptune enters Pisces, on April 4th, indicating a shift toward greater unity-consciousness and spiritual awareness. Venus in Aries stresses the need for greater self-love.
Mercury is retrograde (3/30-4/23) as it travels backwards through the sign of Aries, causing an array of heated misunderstandings and impulsive decision-making. Transiting Mars, the natural ruler of Aries, is in its strongest position, as it conjuncts Uranus and squares Pluto during the course of the month. These are potentially volatile aspects creating a compulsion toward heightened aggression, as tempers to flare.
Pluto, long associated with death, loss and rebirth, turns retrograde from (4/8-9/16) providing opportunities for introspection as we confront our deepest fears, limitations, and inner conflicts around issues of power. The Libra Full Moon on April 17th invites us to re-examine where we need to restore balance in our relationships with one another.
We are called to take bold steps in faith and trust, as we face our greatest fears and concerns for an uncharted future. We can ask for guidance as we move forward to claim a greater sense of love, purpose and peace of mind.
