Instruction regarding the seven color rays is one of the fundamental aspects of esoteric philosophy. Occultism teaches that everything in manifestation whether subtle or concrete, including humans, have their basis in one of the seven color rays. Every individual soul is found on one or another of the seven primary rays, which is called their soul ray. The fragment of the soul that participates in periodic earthly incarnation, called the human personality or lower self, also has a specific color ray upon which it is rooted. The soul ray is permanent, while the personality ray changes in every lifetime along with the person’s astrological sun-sign.

Personality ray qualities involve- a separative attitude, detachment from the group, and attachment to the form side of manifestation. Soul ray attributes embrace- group consciousness, group involvement, and unattachment to external forms, with adherence to the life side of spirit manifestation. The changing personality ray from life to life allows all ray qualities over time to be developed and expressed. Roughly two-thirds of the way along the spiritual path, the soul ray begins to dominate the personality ray.

There are five principal rays that influence each individual being. These are- the soul ray, personality ray, and the rays governing the mind, emotional nature, and the physical body. Attuning to which rays are affecting us and their qualities, is a great aid in self-understanding and spiritual unfoldment. Personal color ray determination is a relatively untrodden path for psychics and sensitives today. To add to the complexity of the subject, each color ray has a higher and lower expression to be understood. The seven different human temperaments are based on the seven primary color rays.

RainbowEach of the essential seven color rays have- certain qualities, individual expressions, a numerical correspondence, strengths, weaknesses, a color, achievement methods, a planetary connection, a musical note, linked gemstones, teaching and learning procedures, their symbols, an affinity with one of the seven planes, bodies and chakras, and a spiritual overseer, to mention some associations. Let’s examine the seven rays and their esoteric planetary connections and qualities, keeping in mind that all seven rays each have seven sub-rays.

Ray I- Vulcan, Pluto, red, will or power, courage, leadership, self-reliance, initiating purpose.
Ray 2- Sun, Jupiter, blue, love-wisdom, unification, sense of oneness, universal love, cooperativeness.
Ray 3- Earth, Saturn, yellow, creative intelligence, adaptability, understanding, evolution, mental comprehension.
Ray 4- Mercury, Moon, green, harmonization, rhythm, intuition, beauty, art.
Ray 5- Venus, orange, action, concrete knowledge, science, analytical mentality, accuracy.
Ray 6- Neptune, Mars, indigo, causation, abstract idealism, devotion, fiery enthusiasm, loyalty.
Ray 7- Uranus, Violet, expression, ceremonial magic, organization, attention to detail.

Each of the seven rays can be expressed either positively or negatively with their resulting karmic effects. Following each numbered ray are first a positive use and secondly, negative expression of that color ray.

Ray 1-Using one’s personal power for good, or forcefully rebuking evil forces. Using power for self-centered negative purposes.
Ray 2- Demonstrating selfless love to others. Self-pity, fear, selfish service.
Ray 3- Comprehensive understanding. Devious manipulation and scheming.
Ray 4- Attunement to beauty and harmony. Glamour of conflict and war.
Ray 5- Using knowledge to benefit humanity. Narrow-mindedness and over-emphasis on outer form.
Ray 6- Devotion to a high ideal. Emotional fanaticism.
Ray 7- Order. Negative, selfish magical work.

Photo byBen White on UnsplashMuscle testing is used by holistic healers to see what’s wrong with your body or emotions. It’s a subconscious way of using your muscles to communicate with you to see what’s wrong and then see if the treatment worked. Osteopaths, energy healers, and chiropractors use this technique that is also known as applied kinesiology. It’s based on the theory that your muscles subconsciously will weaken when something is not right or not true and then they will be strong when something is fine or is true. Thus, you can ask your body questions and get answers as to what’s going on. While the medical establishment does not endorse it, I find it fascinating and fun.

There are several ways to do muscle testing. One way is to stand up straight with one hand on your belly and the other hand just above it. State something that is true and then say something that is not true. Notice how your body responds. When something is true you may tilt forward and when it’s not true it may tilt back. I noticed that my stomach pushed a little outward when I made a true statement, and it retracted slightly when the statement was false. Then you can ask questions about certain issues or about your body and what you should do about those issues.

The most common technique is to make a circle on each hand with your thumb and index finger. Then interlock them and say something that is true. They should hold steady and not pull apart. Then say something that is definitely false and see if they pull apart. After seeing how it worked, I then asked some questions to see what foods were good for me. They held when I asked about salmon and broccoli and then pulled apart when I asked about hamburgers and fries. A friend of mine who is an energy healer not only uses this practice to see what’s wrong, but also to treat the issue and test again. I was amazed how easily he used this with me.

Another method of muscle testing requires another person to test the resistance in your arm. A lot of chiropractors use this technique. You may be sitting or standing with one arm out to the side. He or she stands behind you with one hand on the opposite shoulder and one hand on the wrist of your arm that is extended. The person will make true and false comments. If the comment is true, the arm should hold steady as the person pushes down on your arm, otherwise it will go down part or all of the way if it is not true. Then the person can ask you questions about certain situations and then ask you questions on what you should do. Your subconscious mind will tell you using the answers to the questions. The chiropractor that I go to who is also an energy healer, uses the arm extension technique with great skill and expertise. He has me lie down and hold my arm up. He then will press on it to find out what’s going on and then test me again after the treatment. I always feel fantastic afterwards. Using this system, he was also able to determine what vitamins and supplements my body needed or were not good for me. He did this by placing the supplement near my abdomen and then pushing down on my arm with me trying to keep it straight. If my arm went down, then the vitamin or supplement was not good for me to take. If it stayed straight, then it was fine. He then hid the vitamin or supplement behind his back and pushed on my arm. If it went down, then it was something that my body definitely needed. If my arm stayed straight, then my body didn’t need it. But if it was okay to take according to the previous test, then it may serve a functional purpose and it’s fine to take this vitamin or supplement.

While I’m just getting started with muscle testing, I can still use it to see what’s going on with my body and use it to heal myself. I can certainly ask what foods are good for me when I go to the grocery store, and I find that to be a lot of fun and the results to be entertaining. If you don’t have success at first, keep trying as you will also find it interesting. It does take a lot of practice to become proficient in using it. In any event, I definitely recommend going to holistic and energy healers who are experts in muscle testing, and you will be amazed.

We begin the month of January with Mercury going direct in Sagittarius on Monday, January 1st. Venus and Mars will also be in Sagittarius for the first few days until Mars enters Capricorn on Thursday, January 4th. Sagittarius is a fire sign and is often associated with travel, education, truth and spiritual understanding. Sagittarius is ruled by Jupiter and usually expresses a positive and optimistic perspective of the future.

A Last Quarter Phase Moon occurs on Wednesday, January 3rd in the sign of Libra. Libra is a sign of relationship and is happiest when participating in shared activities and partnerships. Joint ventures involving a shared experience of team effort and co-creation are favored.

New Moon in CapricornIt should be noted that the Sun, Mars, Jupiter, Uranus and even Pluto are all in earth signs for the first part of the month of January. Earth signs favor business, financial matters and activities that produce tangible physical comfort and value. This focus on practical matters is further enhanced as we experience a New Moon in Capricorn on Thursday, January 11th and Mercury enters Capricorn on Saturday, January 13th.

A First Quarter Phase Moon occurs in Aries on Wednesday, January 17th. Aries is a fire sign ruled by Mars. Mars is a planet of action and initiative. Just when we are all fired up about our goals and business ventures the energy changes perhaps suddenly and unexpectedly as both the Sun and Pluto enter Aquarius on Saturday, January 20th. Aquarius is ruled by the planet Uranus. Uranus is often called the “Awakener.” Uranus favors change; it stimulates a new way of thinking and doing things.

Aquarius is the sign of the rebel; it is associated with innovation, independence and social change.
Venus enters Capricorn on Tuesday, January 23rd. Our relationships now will focus on joint ventures for a practical outcome. Investments in business and real estate are favored. Capricorn is ruled by the planet Saturn. Saturn is currently transiting the sign of Pisces. Pisces favors our intuition and compassion. This would suggest that we can achieve our goal even faster by supporting actions of good will and charitable activities.

Full Moon In LeoA Full Moon occurs in the sign of Leo on Thursday, January 25th. Leo is a sign of fun, creativity and self-expression. Perhaps we could allow our inner child to come out and play. Our focus now is on what brings us joy.

Uranus goes direct on Saturday, January 27th. The process of our inner changes will now be expressed more directly in our outer reality. Innovative ways of manifesting business and financial security are favored.

2024 adds to an eight. The theme for this year is empowerment, healing and transformation. A change in how we experience ourselves as valued and valuable will stimulate a change in how we relate and value others.

December 21 to January 21

The Sun enters the zodiac sign of Capricorn on December 21st. This event begins the Winter Season and is known as the Winter Solstice. Capricorn is an earth sign ruled by the planet Saturn. The symbol of Capricorn is the goat climbing the mountain top. Saturn represents our challenges on the road to our success. The Capricorn soul needs a goal, a purpose; they have an innate desire to achieve.

Currently the planet Saturn is transiting the sign of Pisces. Pisces is ruled by the planet Neptune. Neptune requires compassion and a spiritual approach in order for us to succeed.

The planet Mercury is currently retrograde in Capricorn. We may need to rethink and reevaluate our plans and strategies for success. The theme for Capricorn is “perseverance furthers.” The Capricorn soul gains strength through problem solving and overcoming challenges.

If you desire to connect with someone who is reliable, good in business and will help you reach your goals, you would do well to spend some time with someone who has the Sun, Moon, Ascendant or other personal planets in the sign of Capricorn.
